What do you mean it's not a turkey? Alright, I've run out of inspiration for titles 😅

Anyway, it was Christmas, and there was a bird there. Sorry for another Stanage pic!

A panoramic image of the view from Stanage Edge looking up the Hope Valley towards the distinctive Mam Tor. The snow-dusted Great Ridge, which divides the Hope Valley and Edale is towards the right of the shot. with a wintry looking Kinder Plateau beyond.

I'd walked along below the Edge to an area where Ian Bollen and I had found Ring Ouzels feeding on 14 April, but nothing was stirring in the cold and shade of this section of the Edge, before the sun got further round and higher. So I went back to the sunny SE end of the Edge and then slowly repeated the process.

I spotted Wheatears characteristically standing up on heather as before, I managed a few shots before this one was joined by a Meadow Pipit, birds I hadn't really focused upon in these recent trips to Stanage, but this looked rather nice in its setting so I popped off a few shots whilst it also sat posing!

Thank you for your comments and faves. Much appreciated.

Some interesting lighting conditions, with the early morning beginning to clear with the first rays of the sun. Image taken from Stanage Edge, Derbyshire

Looking towards Higger Tor this morning when it was a brisk minus 3 degrees C.

A male Reed Bunting catching the early morning light beneath Stanage Edge, Derbyshire.

A perfect winter moment high above Stanage Edge, where the colours of the fading day melt gently across the sky. The paraglider moves effortlessly through the cold evening air, carried by the breeze and framed by the soft glow of sunset. Snow-covered rocks and distant hills lie quiet beneath, adding texture and stillness to the scene. A beautiful blend of motion and calm, a peaceful dance with the wind over this well-loved Peak District ridge.

Thanks for the views, faves, and kind comments. They're always appreciated. Have a lovely weekend. 😊✨️🙏

I'm not gonna whinge again, promise! 😂 A bit average but the light was nice!

And I won £150 on the Premium Bonds this month, yey! Good start to the weekend.

I might have mentioned last year that I've been a bit obsessed over this composition for over a decade.

I've never been quite happy as one or more elements have been missing. This is the closest to what I've hoped for an imagined. Wonderful side-light on both the foreground and the rest of the scene and fabulous, dark clouds. It's not often I get all of this together.

I'll rill keep visiting, because yesterday it was incredibly windy and I lost the light closer to sunset.

Looking west along Stanage Edge. Somehow I've manged to capture the view without anyone else in shot on what was a very popular walk on this particular morning

Back-lit Foxgloves below Stanage Edge at sunset, with a patch of Cotton-Grass in a wet flush in the distance. This is a slightly flawed stitch of two images, with a shallower DoF in the left hand element of the composite. Posted regardless!

In the distance is Hope Cement Works,

Somehow, no idea how I stayed dry. I could see the rain falling from it as it came directly at me from Hope Valley. It stopped as it blew over Stanage and started again over Hallam Moors.

I'd put my waterproofs on and retraced my steps to Robin Hood's Cave in case I needed to take shelter. It was pretty windy too so it blew through relatively quickly. The wind died down and I was able to get the tent up in much calmer weather with Mungo Jerry going through my head and a wry smile on my face.

If it had been half an hour earlier/later then sunset itself looked like it was going to be great. In the end there was a little colour but nothing to write home about. Can't complain though.

An early morning view from Tumbling Hill above Grindleford, along the Hope Valley.

I love the shape of this little rock. So much so in fact, that I photographed it again in similar conditions this year.

Not really! Thoroughly enjoyed but I got very very wet again 😂 A lovely way to see in the year.

Bit of a rubbish comp but A RAINBOW!!!

Sunset at High Neb on Stanage Edge from a few days ago.

Not much going on in this image but I was struck by the effect of the sunlight breaking through the mist and illuminating a patch of moor.

Some great light approaching sunset yesterday.

The scene from Stanage Edge on Sunday morning, with the golen light of the rising sun catching the sides of the snow-dusted rocks.

Crookstone Hill at the eastern end of the Kinder Scout plateau.

Another Peak District walk yesterday afternoon, rather cloudy but the rain didn’t come.

HSS!

Stanage Edge on a very windy day with rapidly changing lighting conditions.

The sun had long since set when I was driving back to Sheffield towards Ringinglow and I couldn't resist stopping to take an image of the glowing sky over the moorland. This is a stitch of three images and there's a healthy dose of distortion across the composite image!

I had a day off work on Friday, and had a fairly local wander out in the Peak. Unfortunately, there was a huge bank of cloud on the horizon for sunrise, and then high cloud racing across the sky managing to obscure the sun for most of the morning. I did have the odd splash of sunshine, so not a complete washout. It didn't rain (much) either! Good job as I left my waterproof in my other bag, and my feathered friend doesn't like the rain.

Anyway, I'm waffling! Love these millstones scattered about underneath High Neb at Stanage. And I think (hope) I might be getting a bit better at these stuff in the foreground shots.

This lucky paraglider had the entire length of Stanage Edge to himself on Sunday morning.

Some great light approaching sunset today.

Cotton Grass at Ringinglow Bog, near Sheffield

Diving into the archives for this one. An image that I had meant to get round to processing but never quite did. A rather rainy day, but very enjoyable.
