A three image stitched panorama of the Derbyshire Peak District under glowering cloudscape. Stanage Edge on the right and the Hope Blue Circle cement works on the far left..
I had a very pleasant evening out last night up Stanage Edge with Chris T and Tei P. Sunset first then moved off the edge down to a more sheltered location below. Cheers to Chris for lending me his 12mm again. I love the extreme look this lens gives. Moon light and a lume cube for lighting the scene and a small led panel to boost the foreground.

I've never really paid attention to this section of moorland behind Stanage Edge. It looked fabulous this morning though.
A two shot panorama. An interesting morning where the mist built up after sunrise and took a good while to clear.
The Sun beginning to break through the fog and light up the fields near Overstones Farm, Hathersage.

It's always nice to get a full rainbow. I'd been trying to take some photos lower down and left it a little late to head up higher. If I'd set off sooner I might have got some millstones as a foreground. However, I think they've been getting rid of the bracken so it does look a little messy.

This is one of my favourite spots in the country. Views to die for and the sound of Grouse getting ready to settle down for the evening.
Early light catching the gritstone of Stanage Edge. In the distance can be seen Over Owler Tor and Millstone Edge.

That's more like it. I'd gone from wanting more cloud to hoping there'd be just one, small window of opportunity. And there was.
Near High Neb at sunset. I'd been a couple of days before and noticed the heather was more advanced at this higher point.

I've been out of action with dental issues the past week. The snow and ice almost passed me by. I didn't make it out for sunrise yesterday but did manage a short walk around Stanage North and made the most of the lingering ice.
There have been a few good sunsets lately. After a rather dull afternoon on Sunday, the weather improved just before the sun went down and produced some lovely colour on the clearing cloud bank.
I keep on adding some shot to Flickr out of habit/some sense of loyalty/for my mum to look at, but alas I fear its not the 'thing' it used to be.
So here's another Stanage Edge sunset.

I'll tone down the colour a little with this image on Stanage Edge yesterday morning.
I felt lucky to find a composition with heather, a birch, rowan berried and gritstone all in one frame. I do love rowan trees this time of year.
It would have been better viewed from Curbar Edge but that was the venue for a recent outing, so I stuck with Plan A: Stanage Edge.

Sunrise a couple of Fridays ago. Initially, there was a thin layer of mist across the moors looking back to Sheffield. But it built up as the sun rose on the wet landscape.
I don't find this area wasy to find compositions. But my main aim was to capture the heather.
