I had the opportunity to do some of the photography for the San Francisco Scottish Fiddlers concert at Holy Names University in Oakland. The group always puts on a great show and Alasdair Fraser brings out the best in them.

The in-the-round seating made for an imtimate conference, even with a large audience. This also meant 3 times the lighting equipment and 3 time more focussing.
The "before". Stage hands, riggers, master electricians and lighting directors build the roof and stage for the summer season of the Tulalip Amphitheater.

We didn't have the greatest of seats to just watch the show, but it was great to see the production that goes into making it all happen.
ya' know there's no fucking category for "runway"! there's fashion ... there are other categories which were obviously created by non-pros ... but no runway.
what-the-fuck-ever. right?
maybe even a category for just carmen!
she's so not my type of girl ... that said ... i dunno why ... but ... i love photographing her.
just got this frame back from the lab even though it was taken last week ... i made fucking 8 frames with my leica the entire night. that damn 85/1.2 has me mesmorized dammit.
well ... not dammit ... it's fun as fuck to use.
anyway ... i like this photo because it's not a typical runway photo ... nor is it the typical carmen photo ...
and, yes, i was basically on the runway myself.
no one ever tells me to move.
then again, i have the "don't fucking say shit to me pass" ...

With covid-19 restricting stage performances, the dancers and I gathered in the theater.
I set up the stage lights and illuminated the stage. She danced single-mindedly (and not necessarily violently).
This was our work, our breath, our way of life.

This wasn’t Hawaiian Jake Shimabukuro’s first visit to the Byron Bay Bluesfest, but it was the first time I’d seen the boundary-crossing ukulele virtuoso. I have seen some of his re-worked classics on Youtube. His instrumental compilation including Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ and Franz Schubert’s ‘Ave Maria’ had me in tears.

Marion Ravn did a concert at Rockefeller in Oslo on November 21st. It was her first gig after releasing her first solo album in Norwegian. The record is great, and the concert was a real treat. It was just a really nice experience, all over. And shooting Marion was a blast.
