We'd just avoided a heavy downpour and the rest of the afternoon was just fabulous.

Fortunately the clouds lifted on Good Friday when we arrived at the Stackpole estate; and out came the camera for an exploration of the coastline.

The whole coastline with many classic coastal features such as caves and developing sea arches as pictured.

A Pinhole of the quay at Stackpole in Pembrokeshire

Another small blue shot, this time showing the underside of the wing. This has a pattern of black dots ringed with white, but no orange and no lunettes around the wing margin.

Photographed in the sand dunes of Stackpole Warren near Bosherston in Pembrokeshire. This is an incredible area with half a dozen totally different ecosystems accessible during half a day's walk.

This Devil's Quoit standing stone, or menhir, is situated within the National Trust's Stackpole Estate in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, Wales.

Also known as Stackpole Warren Stone, or Harold's Stone after Harold Godwinson, the last Saxon king of England. In folklore, it is told that it is one of the Dancing Stones of Stackpole, three ancient standing stones said to meet at Saxon's Ford on a certain day each year, where they dance until dawn to a tune played by the Devil on his flute, before resuming their stations.

It is believed that it marked a communal gathering place or ceremonial centre and was probably erected about 3000 years ago during the Bronze Age.
