Proportion is one of the main things I was focusing on in this photo as well as rule of thirds. I say proportion because the pinecones are much larger than the pine tree and the tree is out of focus, and I say the rule of thirds because my eyes go right to the tip of that one blade of grass on the left of the picture. Depth and field is also one I forget to mention earlier the way the very front pinecones are out of focus and then the back tree is out of focus as well. This makes the photo feel more three dimensional and how I image a bug looks at the world around its self. This photo was meant to make you feel small compared to the large pinecones.

Canon EF 100mm f2.8 Macro is not an easy lens. The shallow DoF on this lens makes it hard to frame shots. At this time I am not sure if I have received a soft lens.

Therefore, one can stack 5 pieces together to form a solid shape that will stack evenly against an OpenBeam 1515 extrusion. In this example, we formed a shoulder stock for a DSLR video rig this way. This shoulder stock can also telescopic forward and backwards on the rail for fine adjustment.
