The DC Towers (also known as Donau City Towers) will be a pair of towers in Vienna's Donaucity. DC Tower 1 is complete and the first tenants moved into the offices in October 2013. Construction of DC Tower 2 will start afterwards. French architect Dominique Perrault has designed both towers.
It was the last weekend of winter, and my sister and I decided to visit the nearby arboretum to see what we could see. Surprisingly, this last weekend was rather cold and windy, which made it really feel like... well... winter! Brrr!
But the arboretum was already in spring mode, and the two Canada Geese were foraging in our favorite sitting area, along with a squirrel who scampered off as we approached (can you spot it?).
Once seated, we saw where someone had scattered cracked corn all over the ground, which explained the geese and that squirrel foraging in the sitting area.

Give me your wondering eyes
and I'll peer into the roots of things.
Give me your skilful hands
and I'll sow the seeds of your dreams.
Give me your chestful of thoughts
and I'll pour its treasures through the sky.
Give me your breath of life
and I'll spread my wings to fly.
Give me your awestruck silence
and it'll ease the agony of absence.
Give me your warm, glowing heart
and I'll be alive, at last.
Hi my friends, here it is another sunrise from Umbria, Italy - actually, same time and same place as one of my previous uploads (Then Someone drew the curtains and..., as you can easily see from the warped trunk of the oak tree near the center of the scene).
If you are thinking that it is a bit more than pretentious that an Italian is composing verses in English, you are in part right - only in part, though, since I do not assume that I have written good verses, but I felt like trying to convey the emotions that went with the adventure of processing this scene. Hope that the result is at least decent.
I have obtained this picture by blending an exposure bracketing [-1.3/0/+1.3 EV] by luminosity masks in the Gimp (EXIF data, as usual, refer to the "normal exposure" shot), then I added some final touches with Nik Color Efex Pro 4 (and a little trick of mine involving a bw version of the photo). Raw files has been processed with Darktable.

ALL THE DARKNESS IN THE WORLD CANNOT EXTINGUISH THE LIGHT OF A SINGLE CANDLE. – Saint Francis of Assisi
No matter how bad, you think at the moment, things are going and it seems like the whole world turned dark, don't give up, but hang on to hope that things will get better. That single candle in the dark is that hope that you're hanging on in your heart, which will light up your way to a brighter tomorrow. So, smile, God loves you more than you know!

We ventured out for the first time in months, visiting a nearby arboretum in the morning before the summer heat reached it's peak.
Our destination was this shaded sitting area beside the lake, offering a lovely place to sit, relax, enjoy the view and reflect on how nice it was to finally get out for a change of scenery.
Wanting to stay safe, with masks at the ready, we kept our trip short. But hopefully for our next visit we'll be more willing and able to spend more time to see all the arboretum has to offer.

The parochial church of Qawra is dedicated to St Francis of Assisi. The parish incorporates both Qawra and the neighbouring locality of Bugibba in its geographical area.
The church in Qawra started operating as a parish on 8 December 2004 and the first parish priest was Fr Gorg Zammit, OFM conv. The architect of the church building was Richard England. It is a modern-style church, not in the Latin cross style as most other parishes of the Maltese islands.
Quite ugly in my opinion..
“Lord make me an instrument of your Peace ...”

Oh, I'm feeling a tad preachy, so I am laughing at myself, because it never does one any good to take oneself too seriously! : 0) “Practice what you preach” springs to my mind and it is something that is extremely hard to exact … but all good things come with a little effort. If life's lessons come to us too easy, they can never truly be learned or sustained for very long, so I keep trying and God loves a trier … and he has a good sense of humour. He must have because he made me! Speaking of which, my Angel for today is Humour! ; 0)) Now I am off again, but I am there with you in spirit and will continue to pop in to see you <3 Have a wonderful weekend and thank you all for bringing sunshine to my days!

PRAYER OF ST FRANCIS – SARAH McLACHLAN
“Pity is akin to love”
so my late father told me
sitting by the fireside
carving out a memory
looking at the pictures
in the flickering flames
listening to his stories
telling me about war games
I never really knew him
until all these years that pass
Summers making daisy chains
kneeling on the dew-damp grass
early in the morning
and often late at night
musings of those halcyon days
flood my mind and I take flight
escape into my memories
adventures found in dreams
putting right the endless wars
in my mind's eye it's how it seems
a constant battle of wits and woes
a profusion of confusion
but golden light that filters through
enlightens me in my grand illusions
fragile temperament; sensitive
my skin is thin and prone to cuts
easily; wounds self-inflicted
scarred now in ridges; ifs and buts
what if; but what if we could be
the best version of ourselves and free
our minds and hearts; our souls and all
that meets and greets us; none will fall
I like to think that there are others
like-minded in my gaining wisdom
who seemingly drift by in life
and yet profoundly step on life's poignant rhythm
that all things come and go away
the flowers, the birds, the trees
and inbetween we have our say
from butterflies to humming bees
now is the time to learn to love
to set differences aside
if we don't learn that love is all
then what's the point; the growing tide
will break on shores we never know
and drown us in sweet tears of sorrow
not bitter for that would imply
we had not learned and then tomorrow
would be the same; an endless pattern
of war; of love; of peace; of hate
there's no time like this present moment
to forgive our enemies; to wipe the slate
who on Earth would not want love
and peace to reign on everyone
those individuals are small and few
let's change their minds these days to come
I looked into the bowels of Hell
when I was just a child
I saw the burning flames; I tell
you it is better to be meek and mild
that is the essence of me you know
by now you have my measure
I only seek to bring you love
love is the answer; peace is the pleasure
come join me while I say a prayer
let us join hands and kneel
for only when we join our hearts
will we know peace and love and heal.

Assisi is a hill town in Umbria, in central Italy. It is the birthplace of St. Francis (1181-1226), one of the patron saints of Italy. The Basilica of San Francesco is an imposing 2-level church consecrated in 1253. The 13th-century frescoes depicting the life of Saint Francis have been attributed, among others, to Giotto and Cimabue. The crypt houses the stone sarcophagus of the saint.
Bourbon Baroque played a beautiful concert here tonight. I resisted the urge to snap photos while they were playing.

A church this magnificent deserves to be called many names, and this one is referred to by three - St. Francis of Assisi, the Kaiser Jubilee and the Mexico Church. Located in Mexicoplatz in the 2nd district of Vienna, you have to seek it out, but the reward is this view, with the Danube behind you. No matter what you call it, this stunner was built between 1898 and 1910 and was constructed to honor the 50th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria.

For a change of scenery we visited a nearby arboretum the other day for the first time, not sure if we'd find much photo worthy. We wre pleasantly surprised by what we found.
There is a lake there, and at the lake is a nice area where you can sit and just observe the beautiful surroundings. I especially loved the Saint Francis of Assisi statue there.
Pretty sure will be going back again.

At the arboretum there is a nice little lake with a path along one side. After crossing a footbridge you round the corner and come to this open sitting area that is shaded by the surrounding trees.
This statue of St Francis of Assisi has been here as long as I can remember and is starting to show its age. But then aren't we all?
