This little robin was very calm and let me get so close to him that I had to switch over to my 200mm macro for this shot!

It’s spring, but this year the winds have been relentless—blowing from the north or east, sharp and cold. Generation Z craves spring, warmth, closeness, and the chance to feel carefree. But their shoulders are heavy, and now there’s talk that the AMOC is weakening, and the weather in Northern Europe is turning rapidly colder. Another burden for Gen-Z to carry, on top of all the neglect left by their parents’ generation: polluted waterways, undrinkable water, and the earth itself choked with plastic. Microplastics are everywhere—inside fish, vegetables, the soil, and probably inside me too. What we need is closeness, warmth, and someone to talk to about everything, without feeling stupid or alone.

A honeybee gathers nectar and pollen from a white flower.

A peaceful spring park scene with blooming flowers near a calm lake, filled with soft seasonal colors and a fresh natural atmosphere.

This week I made the intentional decision to bring my camera with me each day. I had started noticing the cherry trees beginning to bloom, along with other small signs of spring, and I didn’t want to keep driving past them.

These blossoms were photographed during one of my workday stops. The soft pink clusters felt like a reward for simply paying attention.

Shot with my Nikon Z6II and vintage Helios 44-2, wide open to lean into the dreamy rendering and subtle swirl. I love how this lens turns an ordinary parking lot scene into something painterly and nostalgic.

There are so many beautiful moments tucked into the in-between spaces of the day. I’m glad I chose to carry my camera and notice them.

The sky’s a perfect blue, and the trees—half-bloomed, half-waking—begin their annual chorus of colour. In the middle, the cherry blossoms sing the loudest, pink and defiant, refusing to go unnoticed. There’s something comforting in nature’s rhythm. No fanfare. Just a quiet promise that life renews.
