The last time we saw Crater Lake in the Kiittatinny Mountains of New Jersey was only about a month ago. We had to four wheel drive through the last of the deep snow on the gravel road, past the sadly ruined and empty beaver's pond to find this lake was still covered in a thick sheet of ice. The bitter wind drove me back inside the truck without even a photo. Though the beaver pond was still empty this weekend, we spotted a beaver alive and happily swimming and splashing here in nearby Crater Lake.

Early flowering blossom on the tree outside my house. I was standing rather precariously on a step stool to take this, holding the thin branch in one hand and the camera in the other. It took a few attempts to nail the focus!

#17/52 Spring view - the snow's now almost all gone and there were some lovely puffy clouds about today. That tree never fails to inspire me, but I missed the ducks.
At Glattalp, where temperatures are often below average, there were still lots of spring gentians (Gentiana verna) to be seen, even though it was almost the end of July.
