Lyric L (Nkechi-da-LyricL) Spokenword Kve at Charlie Wrights Music Lounge

at Sankofa Arts Kafe in Dallas, Dec. 1999

A rare and unusual record.

First episode of a French radiophonic scifi serial about the invasion of planet Earth by Venusian people. From 1958.

This is the first time I took photos in such low light and some of the photos aren't perfect but for me they are! I'm delighted with how they turned out! :D

I'm a fanatic when it comes to Henry Rollins so it was so brilliant getting to see him live for the first time doing his Spoken Word! If you ever get the chance to see him live, do! He's amazing! :D

If you are sharing my photos anywhere please give credit and link back to the original, thanks.

Jordan Dreyer – lead vocals, tambourine, percussion

Chad Sterenberg – guitars, trumpet, glockenspiel, synthesizers, percussion, backing vocals

Kevin Whittemore – guitars, backing vocals

Adam Vass – bass, baritone guitar, additional guitars, backing vocals

Brad Vanger Lugt – drums, percussion, piano, keyboards, backing vocals

It's STILL by any means... and most def by any dreams Necessary... (peace)...

Rollins. What a treat it is to just sit down and listen to an intelligent, articulate, and interesting person just talk for 2 1/2 hours. If you haven't seen him live I'd suggest doing so because intelligent, articulate, and interesting people are hard to come by these days.

Here is a detailed analysis of the **Tyfonmasters C60 cassette** from the image:

1. **Cassette Brand and Model**:

- This is a **Tyfonmasters C60 cassette**, marked prominently in bold text with a blue and white label. The **C60** signifies a **60-minute total runtime**, with 30 minutes per side. Tyfonmasters was a known manufacturer for cassette tapes, particularly in **Sweden**, specializing in **blank cassettes** for personal and commercial use.

- The **vibrant orange case** of the cassette adds a striking, retro aesthetic. The **clear plastic shell** allows visibility of the internal tape and mechanisms, a common feature of cassettes in the late **1980s and 1990s**, making it popular for those who preferred visually engaging designs.

2. **Handwritten Label**:

- The handwritten label on the cassette reads "A side" at the top, with other markings including **"Speedy"**, although the rest of the writing is partially scratched or faded. The label has the typical lined design for marking content, which suggests that this cassette was used for **personal recordings** or **compilation tracks**.

- The term "**Speedy**" could indicate the name of a song, a show, or perhaps even a **DJ set** or **mixtape theme**. The crossed-out sections may represent changes to the content or previous recordings that were later overwritten.

3. **Design and Color Scheme**:

- The cassette has a retro design, with **rainbow-colored stripes** (green, yellow, pink, and blue) on the label, giving it a vintage, almost nostalgic appearance. This design choice was common in the **1980s**, when vibrant colors were popular in consumer products.

- The overall design feels playful and functional, with the bright colors likely aiming to make the cassette more recognizable and visually appealing in a collection.

4. **Physical Condition**:

- The cassette appears to be in **good physical condition**, with no major signs of damage or wear, though the handwritten label has been **heavily altered and scratched**. The tape inside the shell looks intact, indicating that the cassette is likely still **playable**.

- The cassette shell itself shows **minimal wear**, with some slight dust but no significant scratches or dents, suggesting it has been used but also cared for over the years.

5. **Use and Cultural Context**:

- As with other **C60 cassettes**, this tape was likely used for **shorter recordings**, such as a **music mixtape, DJ set, radio broadcast**, or personal **audio project**. The combination of handwritten notes and the retro design points to a time when people frequently created **custom mixtapes** or recorded content for personal enjoyment or sharing with friends.

- The **Tyfonmasters brand** and **C60 length** suggest that this was a commonly used blank cassette for a variety of recording purposes, given the shorter playtime compared to longer C90 or C120 tapes.

### Summary:

This **Tyfonmasters C60 cassette** is a brightly colored, retro-style tape with a **personalized handwritten label**, suggesting it was used for personal recordings. The presence of the word "**Speedy**" indicates it may contain music or an audio compilation, and the **clear orange plastic casing** is typical of the **1980s-1990s cassette era**. The tape appears to be in **good condition**, and despite the scratches on the label, the cassette likely remains playable.
