Split is one of Croatia's bigger cities and has an interesting old town. We were able to see the majority of the sights in three quarters of a day's relaxed exploration and spent the remaining quarter drinking excellent Croatian coffee and beer.
Split Mountain – solo trip (duh, was the only one among my pals who never did it). The easiest 14er with with some light 4x4 approach – luckily I had Tacoma by then (scratching the hell out of a new car – but that’s why I bought the thing in a first place).
My objective – be at the Red Lake by the sunrise and capture all its glory… simple - just me, the mountain and the perfect light! But not until the approach is done – sandy and at times confusing, I’ve managed to be by the lake some 2 hours earlier planned. It was cold. I realized I need something to warm myself and it was then when I started a bonfire not to freeze (yell at me as much as you want - I used already established site and killed it by plentiful of water)
The sunrise was – unimaginable and photos won’t do its justice to tell you the wow I had that morning, possibly the best of 2018 (although Lone Pine was quite incredible too). I remember I took so many photos – a good sign (long debates upon post-processing – inevitable consequences). Satisfied by the photos I quickly packed-up and headed towards the saddle between mt. Prater and Split. I did follow the Red Mountain Creek from ~11400. It was sandy.
I remember reaching the saddle and looking at the last push towards the summit – daunting (early start and sunrise rush is always exhausting) Summit was remarkable with some jugged views towards the south.
I spent just a shy less of an hour on its top and headed back promptly. Afternoon sun was gorgeous on the Red Lake – turquoise/green-ish, with fall colors on the grass – Sierra’s best combo.
The rest of the trip was not remarkable - I reached the car just before the sunset.

Matejuška has been for centuries a port for small boats owned by fishermen of Split, the residents of Veli Varoš set sail from there out to the sea to feed their families.
I discovered split toning tonight and immediately wanted to give it a go. I'm not overly happy with the work on the skin but spots and bad complexion made it tricky. If anyone has any tips to make a smoother photoshop complexion without cranking the blur up then please tell me! It was driving me crazy!!

I like carrying my little camera around with me all the time now. I was setting up to split the pile of wood in the background. I had stuck my ax in to my base stump and the textures and color caught my eye. So I shot it.

Waterfall a short hike up the Split Rock river at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park (Minnesota). This was in August when the water was low. About half of the water is diverted over the long "shelf" seen here (the remainer flows just on the other side). This is a combination of 2 photos combined for a panaramic portrait.

In Split wird so einiges geboten, z.B direkt neben dem Stadttor, dem so genannten “goldenen Tor” steht die imposante Bronzefigur von Grgur Ninski. Wer über seinen goldenen Riesenzeh streichelt, den soll das Glück verfolgen......www.welt-sehenerleben.de
