This was a particularly nice splinter. It's been a while since I've had one this size.

Deadvlei, Sossusvlei, Namibia.

Deadveli means "dead marsh." The trees here are believed to be about 900 years old, but have not decomposed because the environment is so dry.

You can see the group starting to splinter as the climb mellows out and those with the leg strength look to improve their position.

2017 saw the return of the classic Salt Lake City circuit with the short but brutal climb up State Street each lap to get to the Start/Finish line.

Splinter the rat costume from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT), patterned after the film / movie version I believe.

"Mask for tankers, British manufacture. Worn by British, American, and French tankers to protect them against splinter and bullet splash coming through the narrow eye slits."
