It is so thin a splinter of singing. -Carl Sandburg
This is a detail from my birch at my front door. This image reminded me of the poem. One kind of good-bye.
A large pine tree lies broken and splintered after strong winds during November.
Due to unexpected family problems and other ongoing issues, I will be absent for a while.
May I wish all my flickr friends and contacts seasons greetings and good health, and thank you all for your visits and kind comments this past year. Thank you also for posting your own inspirational images, I have enjoyed seeing them, all the very best.

Sorry for the bad quality. It was just really rainy outside and my stuff wouldn't focus. But I painted this three days ago, just finished tweaking it!
I remember I would always cry home to my Ma when I got a splinter, now a days I'm in too much pain to give a crap about a toothpick in my skin
A fabulous day out in a winter wonderland of Eryri (Snowdonia). A chance to have an overdue meet up with a Flickr associate in Clive Griffiths. We had a wonderful circular mountain walk from the Ogwyn Valley taking in the majestic Glyder's.
This is the scene looking South West from Glyder Fach to the romantically named "Castle of the Winds" or Castell y Gwynt, with Glyder Fawr behind on the right and the mass of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), behind in the distance to the left.
What this shot doesn't portray is the bitter strong winds on the summits with lots of ice and snow patches littering the plateau.
