A couple of people thought they saw two dorsal fins on our whales today. I am guessing they were seeing the dorsal fin and the raised area around the blowholes known as the splashguard. Both can be seen in this picture. The Fin Whale is among the fastest of the great whales. It is capable of bursts of speed of up to 25 mph leading to its description as the "greyhound of the sea."
