El Splash era una composición escultórica situada en el interior vacío de la Torre del Agua. Representaba el impacto de una gota al caer al suelo. Lamentablemente ha sido trasladada de lugar y troceada para poder sacarla de su ubicación durante de la Expo.

9march11 bishop--- A raindrop hits the water and splashes up from a puddle in Cascade Park in Elyria. These puddles won't be around long with yet another winter storm heading into the area.
This droplet was captured by photographing it at 1/8000th of a second.
I am a graphic designer for a community college in Oregon and have recently taken on photography as part of my responsibilities. In January we were preparing for the spring term schedule and wanted to have rain boots as part of our cover photo.
It rained a ton in Oregon this winter. I have greyhounds and our yard had standing water everywhere. I had a lot of fun with the greyhounds taking pictures of them splashing through water puddles.
As the deadline to go to press drew near, boots splashing in the water immediately popped into my mind and since I had plenty of practice with the dogs, I hoped I would be able to pull it off.
The morning we shot this image, we located a place on campus that would work, one of my co-workers recruited the fire science program to pump water onto the tiles (and keep pumping because it drained off fast) and rounded up a student that would volunteer to get wet outside in January as well as a couple of extras to stand in the background.
It took several tries to get the splashes just right. What amazed me the most though, was the sun that peeked through the clouds for about 5 minutes. Now that is real cooperation for January in Oregon.
This was probably the most fun I have had on a project and I could have never done it without the help my co-workers, the students and the fire science program.
My 1st go at splash photography! Well everyone's got to cover the basics so I thought I should - lot harder than it looks!! Lot harder! Not to mention setting up a ballon tied to a ladder, setting up multitudes of desklamps for light and even just finding a glass bowl big enough to catch the water in. Still, Effort =Reward. (So they say).
Big Thanks to hubbie for helping me set up and humping a ladder in and out of the house! xx
