SPLASH FAH FASHION SHOW BY HILLARY FLOWERS NEW YORK CITY AT SKYROOM ROOFTOP LOUNGE TIMES SQUARE. 06/03/2014
Shot for Shack Assignment #67: Splash. Not that original, but I hadn't done this before and this is the only time I think I will. I did add some lighting pizazz, by way of a SB-900 with a 1/2 CTO filter on it to warm up the water.
1 orange was seriously harmed in the making of this image.
Plenty of light and colour as all the light show of Waterfalls by ITHACA were being shown, and the treetop walkway proved a gorgrous backdrop.
Long exposure used here to get the colour splashes.
My first try at splash photography. I used probably the least sohpisticated setup imaginary: a bowl of water, a black background and a slice of orange. I set the focus manually and then dropped the orange with the left hand while using a remote trigger with my right hand :) Took me a few tries to get the timing right, but I was suprised how well this works!
Strobist:
- speedlite (Canon 430EXII) from 45 degrees right front through white umbrella @ 1/4
- speedlite (Canon 430EXII) from left behind ~60° with zoot snoot @ 1/64
Speedlites were triggered with Yongnuo RF remote triggers.

We had a nice evening yesterday. We (smawuascht, Roland Ster, Outburner, www.flickr.com/photos/17921122@N00/ and me) met us for trying some splash pictures.
Now we all know, we must learn a lot more to make perfect splash photos, but it was very funny and interesting!

Everybody’s got a laughing place. Splash Mountain. A ride with great a great story, a great view at the top, and a fun drop at the end. This is one of the few shots I planned to take when getting to Disney World. Each park, I have a shot that I plan to take during sunset. I run from where ever we are in the park to take that shot for a few minutes while the sun goes down while the family does something else.
Water splashed by throwing dice.
Setup info - on camera flash, handheld.
Exp - 46mm 1/200s, f/9.0,ISO 800

This picture is not centralized, and i decided to not crop, there's no photoshop here, its a pure image. (only the frame was photoshoped). I used only one light, from the left side, an tripod, and a lot of patience. :)
