Visited Cot Valley with Simon the other day. First time here this year, hoping for a decent sunset which did not turn up. Not had much luck with them the last few visits but, its always a pleasure bing here.

Texas dandelion and Blue-eyed grass.
Blue-eyed grass are declared a weed, but the tiny blue blooms are so pretty.
The Texas dandelion is also classed a weed, but it is native to Texas, and is distinctively different from the common dandelion.
Drop of whole milk splashing into another drop, which is placed on white plexiglas. Several colors of food coloring dye were placed on the target drop immediately before taking the picture (so they didn't have time to mix). Exposure is 3sec at f/7.1 (ISO 100) in a dark room. The moment is captured by a Vivitar 283 external flash at camera left, fired by a delayed infrared phototrigger. (I followed the instructions at www.hiviz.com .) Be careful with these experiments -- you'll end up with milk and food coloring all over your camera!

Rain chains are a beautiful and functional alternative to traditional, closed gutter downspouts. Guiding rain water visibly down chains or cups from the roof to the ground, rain chains transform a plain gutter downspout into a pleasing water feature. From the soft tinkling of individual droplets to the soothing rush of white water, they are a treat to listen to.
Rain chains (‘kusari doi’ in Japanese) in concept are not a new idea. For hundreds of years, the Japanese have used the roof of their homes to collect water, transporting it downward with chains and finally depositing the rain water into large barrels for household water usage. Japanese temples often incorporate quite ornate and large rain chains into their design.
These chains can be made from decorative metal cups, the chain in the photo however is a heavy-duty linked chain that deposits the rain water from a part of the roof into my garden pond.

Inside an abandoned turnpike tunnel I found a few leaks in the ceiling. This is a handheld shot of some drops hitting a puddle.

I am a surgical resident. It is all consuming; it takes nearly all my time, my energy, my thoughts. It is a tough job, and for those that have been through it, you know what I am talking about. Photography has been a passion of mine for a long time, and I found that I simply dont have the time or energy to go out and photograph during my time as a resident. I had to find a new way to shoot, and find out how to do it in such a way that I can pick it up and drop it at a moment's notice. I found that I might have to start making more studio based photos and this was my first shot at it. I placed a glass on a mirror surface, and used a sound trigger to get the timing right. I dropped an ice-cube into water, fired off my flashes and bam, this is what I got. It took more than a few times to get it right, and more than a few days of in and out to finally get is tuned right. Overall, it was a fun task that really helped keep me grounded while I was trudging through residency. Anyway, I hope you all can enjoy the photo if its your kind of thing! :)

It had rained a lot on the days prior to the rally, turning this small creek passage into a major water crossing...
Here, the Subaru Impreza STi N11 driven by Thomas Leger and François Dortu is seen losing a front bumper cover during the crossing.
My first instinct is to process in color - I love color - but woke up this morning thinking I really need something to make this splash pop more. Tried it in black & white and few other minor tweaks, and I'm happy with this outcome. I need to try B&W more often!
