I wouldn't have posted this, but it just struck me how much she looks like me in this shot.

A day off from work and the usual early morning departure on the train at 6.14am meant a day in the capital exploring some favorite items to photograph. It also seems that a day in London ends by seeing a cartoon/film character (last time it was Spiderman). This time Shrek was touring Parliament Square.

A tray of Mikhail Gorbachev dog toys from the early 1990s at my favorite closeouts store. These were licensed by "Spitting Image," a popular British TV show that is perhaps best known here in the US from their puppets in the 1986 music video for "Land of Confusion" by Genesis.

Circa 1991, these Gorby toys were sold in Petco, along with the Ronald Reagan one and the Margaret Thatcher one (and maybe others...?). As I recall, they were expensive for dog toys then — $6.95 each? $9.95 each? I can't be sure. (I'm sure they were sold elsewhere as well, but I only saw them in Petco.)

Only Gorby showed up at the closeouts store, over a year ago. I bought a few, but I can't believe a year later they're still there!

This handsome man means the world to me, and I'm excited to follow his life through photography.
