Looking like unseasonal blossom, the scarlet capsules and orange seeds of the spindle. There are several spindle trees in Hatfield Forest, but none are shown on the nature trail guides.

I have never seen spindle fruit so heavily before! When the bright pink fruits open, they will reveal shocking bright orange seeds.

The spindle berry have been fantastic this year.

Plain Red Cedar whorl, Maple shaft. This wood has a subtle but very distinct grain and a wonderful color. In reality the color is a bit more on the pale purple side.

I love this spindle! My first one from The Spanish Peacock and it won't be the last! It has a little bit of Butterfly Girl Designs' Tuscany that tore off from another bit of spinning I was doing. The whorl is "flame" box alder and the shaft is bloodwood.

This is my new Louet spindle, and the spinning is from the Kool-aid dyed roving.

Dave has crafted this lovely Russian support spindle from birdseye maple. He has inlayed the spindle with turquoise accents. This Russian support spindle measures 11 1/2 inches in length, and weights 52g (1.9 ounces). The matching lap bowl measures 6 1/2 inches in height, and is 2 3/4 in diameter.

I don't know if this is a spindle. It could be some sort af bobbin.

The bright pink seed capsule of the Spindle Tree splits to expose orange seeds. Seen near Snowshill in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds.

This handcrafted walnut spindle features a lovely shamrock motif created with turquoise and pipestone.
