My new spindle arrived yesterday! I got it from SevenYaks. It spins like a dream, so smooth. I wanted a spindle that can spin bulky weight yarn and this spindle is 3.1 ounces. I already spun up some great thick & thin bulky yarn on it, defiantly hard to get used to after spinning thin for so long.
The Berwyn "Spindle" features eight classic cars on a giant spike. It is located in the Cermak Plaza shopping center, at Harlem Avenue and Cermak Road in the western suburb.
The Spindle, made famous by the movie Wayne's World. Eight cars impaled on a huge 50 foot spike, this sculpture was in the parking lot of Cermak Plaza in Berwyn, IL. It was disassembled in May 2008.

Inner three by the handle: 2 toy wheels, and a custom Grafton Fibers
Beautiful Cocobolo wood was used for the whorl of this Tibetan support spindle. The shaft was crafted from Ebony.

Spinning was the craft of the week - and I'm not sure who found it more relaxing, me or Charlie. Actually, I am sure... Charlie! It makes him fall asleep.

This lovely top whorl drop spindle is entirely handmade and handpainted.
I was inspired by a Russian traditional style of painting called Khokhloma.
The painting was done using acrylic paint over a wooden base. The spindle is coated with a clear gloss varnish, to stop the paint rubbing off.
