For who, they would ask themselves, would be fools enough to dare the South China Sea in such a boat; to dare the South China Sea in the season of the winds?
(From: Yondering, by Louis L’Amour, 1980).
On a moonlit night, somewhere in the South China Sea, on green phosphorescent sea, over disturbed kraken of the deep, the speed boat churns the waves, traveling at prodigious velocity. We follow it for a while, like a flock of seagulls, then gently lower ourselves onto the deck, the salty breeze in our hair and the spray on our skins. Half-hidden in the shadows, we take a secret peek through the salt-encrusted windows. As our eyes adjust, we see a dimly lit cabin with a sole red light. Then we spot the crew, sitting silently on hard seats wearing life jackets.
Grim faces. Grim, tense faces. The situation must be extremely serious. Jack with his elephant rifle. Orinoco Suzy with the blow pipe. The Giancella sisters with their machetes and knitting needles. 20 grips, 5 art directors, 2 script writers, a dozen makeup artists, 1 celebrity photographer and certified madman. One-eyed Captain Sanchez at the wheel, bottle in hand, swearing in Cantonese.
Then, like on command, all eyes turn towards us. We have been spotted!
We disperse into the night, in panic. Man, these are scary dudes!

Will we find the Lady in Red? Will she be rescued? Or is it too late? The tension mounts. All eyes turn towards the scriptwriters.

From our series 'Island Story' - the story of a shipwreck. "Alone and stranded on tropical shores that time forgot, a beautiful Lady from Shanghai struggles for survival, with humor, charm and style. Storms, cannibals and witches - she will encounter them all!"

Combination of 15 liter tank, nitrox and relaxed diving rules imposed by S.M.Y. Ondina helped me to enjoy one of the best 20 minutes underwater I ever had - everyone in the group surfaced after dive near manta cleaning station, I was only one remaining and enjoyed really close interaction with one black and one white mantas, swimming together with them just less then half meter apart - I was trying to get in front of manta for frontal shot, but it was not letting me, by increasing speed to match mine and to stay close. It was great fun. Typically if many people are underwater simultaneously mantas are really shy and don't want to play, and divers try to keep low profile not to scary off mantas. This time I had luxury to be in the water just by myself for extended period of time, and was allowed by these giants to swim together, not just to sit on the floor.
In addition to that it was fist time I saw black mantas - they are more difficult to photoghraph due to lack of contrast white belly provides, but nether less are very magnificent animals.
This is color version of the photo.
Photo taken from the elevated metro train that goes to Odaiba Area. This train is compeltely automatic and has no driver. That's why you can sit in front of it and take this kind of photos, shooting at low speed and holding the camera in the front window of the train :-)

Haven't been using Flickr much lately, but I just had to show you this gorgeous F12.
Hopefully I get around to uploading more from yesterdays Ferrari Challenge at Lime Rock Park.

Storm tonight north of Toowoomba picked up speed and came in faster than I was expecting. Which explains the photo from a housing estate
I have been trying to find the best settings for birds in flight photography and have just saved some on my camera's memory. Seeing this deer was unexpected so the settings (sort of) did the job here. Not "perfect" but I liked the sense of speed that this gives.

focus on living fully in the present.

Lately i digitized my old 4x5 inch b&w films. It all began with this old Speed Graphic with an adapted Aero-Ektar a friend brought back from the United States in 1978.
A build for Alego's challenge for french RLOC BrickPirate to build sci-fi speeder using the rotor blade part 62743.
One night I got the urge to make a super sleek, open top racer using my 2 favourite colours (black and dark red). I wanted it to be a really dense, compact build with a smooth upper body and badass looking engine chassis underneath. So I did.

1999 marks the third time in my life when I picked up the photography bug. Armed with a new Canon FTb to replace one lost in a fire, I was out photographing again.
Check out an album containing more of my photos shot in 1999, or photos from The City of Guelph, which was my inspiration at this time.

Allowed 70 MPH on the Metra mainline, Nickel Plate Road 765 is taking every inch of it as the tranquil suburban peace of Deerfield is momentarily shattered with the passing of The Varsity. My children are transfixed by the overwhelming spectacle of steam and steel at speed!!!
Got around to ordering the pieces for my 1:35th scale BARC Speeder in the right colors, so here, at last, is the final design in all its glory.
