Europe, Germany, Rheinland-Pfalz, Speyer, Technik Museum Speyer, Front suspension (uncut)

The Technik Museum Speyer has an extensive collection of racing cars. Shown here is the front suspension of a '60s racing car. It might be a Tyrell or a March.

It’s of the double wishbone type. Citroen introduced it in the 30s of the previous century. One of the things it enabled was that the tire always stays parallel to the road surface, providing safer road holding. By the way: it actually is a triple wishbone, but the principle is the same. The tubing on the left belongs to the brake ventilation system.

In a way, you can compare the double wishbone suspension with an automatic version of a tilt/shift lens, which can change the angle between a lens and a sensor ( or film) so that they aren’t in the same plane any more - to keep the sensor in the same plane as (parallel to) the object you are photographing, thus correcting vertical converging (‘falling’) lines – appreciable in architectural photography.

This is number 22 of Speyer-Sinsheim album, 1480 of Minimalism/explicit Graphism and 10 of Car abstracts and car graphisms.

Corio Bay was hosting the Offshore Superboat Championship racing so for some of the morning & afternoon these mean, sleek, speed machines were zooming around. This one was waiting to be hoisted into the water at the marina before competing. superboat.com.au/

By the lake was his favourite place to practice.

Not sure how I got this trike, think it was a bulk lot, but it was just the back half piece. No front wheel. so, when life gives you lemons...
