Rube Goldberg would have been proud.

Produced by Graflex in Rochester, the Speed Graphic is commonly called the most famous press camera. They were produced from 1912 until 1973; the most significant improvements occurring in 1947 with the introduction of the Pacemaker Speed Graphic. It was standard equipment for many American press photographers until the mid-1960s.

Perhaps the most famous Speed Graphic user was press photographer Arthur "Weegee" Fellig, who covered New York in the 1930s & '40's.

The Speed Graphic was a slow camera. Each exposure required the photographer to change the film sheet, focus the camera, cock the shutter, and press the shutter. Faster shooting can be achieved with the Grafmatic film holder, which is a six sheet film "changer" that holds each sheet in a septum. Photographers had to be conservative and anticipate when the action was about to take place to take the right picture. The cry, "Just one more!" if a shot was missed was common. President Harry Truman introduced the White House photographers as the "Just One More Club."

Unfortunately this puppy sits behind dirty glass in a crowded field. I sought to capture it as it sat. Minor Photoshopping was employed. Perhaps one day I shall own it. Perhaps.

The LGV Est européenne (often shortened to LGV Est) is an extension to the French high-speed rail network, connecting currently Vaires-sur-Marne (near Paris) and Baudrecourt (near Metz and Nancy), and later Vaires-sur-Marne and Vendenheim (near Strasbourg). As of 2009, it is the newest high-speed line in France and still under construction, with 300 km (190 mi) of a planned 406 km (252 mi) in service. It provides fast service between Paris and the principal cities of eastern France and Luxembourg, and several cities in Germany

As we were on a high speed Catamaran with Clipper, Seattle, this guy "won the race".

I took this picture of a bike messenger in 2005, never thinking that I would become one myself not that much later. maybe this one captured my secret wish for a change. and for SPEED!! ;-))

I attempted to catch a single sea gull landing when my shots were photo bombed by others.

During another photo run on the NRHS trip, UP 8444 puts on quite the show for the fans. It certainly looks like the famous northern is hustling along although it probably was only moving at a sedate pace if at all!

The number of drivers that actually go this speed limit are maybe 10%. I'd say 35-40 is more normal in our neighborhood. Even though I obey this limit around my house, 25 is pretty darn slow in todays cars. Try actually driving the posted speed limits this week. You'll get passed a lot!

» I went on a children's roller coaster once when I was maybe 12-or some age when I was considered a little old to be on a kiddy ride. Absolutely terrified. Thought I was going to die.

The RNS-315 can show posted speed limits. I wouldn't count on it being right all the time, but it's always been right so far.

(No, I wasn't driving while taking these pictures. I used the unit's demo mode.)

Fantasia Morocco...(Berrechid)

Photos taken during the festival Fantasia in my city "Berrechid"Summer 2010

It is a tradition Moroccan tipical

The Riders make a run (400/500m) on high speed lined up

and in the arrival they must all derived the coup of the shotgun

together at once !!!

NB : I'm sorry for my expression average in English 

Fantasia Maroc…(Berrechid)

I was wondering how fast I'd be able to 'type' using the iPhone interface, and got to wondering how fast I type on a regular keyboard. I got 57wpm on the first try, no errors. So I hope to get at least 40 on the iPhone.

I'm obsessing. The damn thing isn't even coming out for a year. *bows head in shame*
