Yesterday (22nd February), a group of Instituto Hemingway students visited the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, as part of the programme of free cultural activities put on by our school.

 

The museum boasts a large number of spectacular works, from a period stretching from the Rennaissance to the modern day. Among other things, the museum exhibits a Picasso.

Ayer 22 de febrero, el programa de actividades gratuitas que Instituto Hemingway ofrece a sus estudiantes, proponía la visita al Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao.

 

Así, un grupo de estudiantes se dieron cita en el Instituto Hemingway para esta visita. El museo ofrece gran cantidad de trabajos espectaculares, que van desde el renacimiento hasta el arte contemporáneo. Entre otras cosas se encuentra un picasso en la colección.

Sandburg students met with educator Barb Alvarado over a series of classroom visits in November and December of 2017, culminating in a Frieda Fiesta event at the Hawthorne Library in January of 2018.

Our mini-pigrimage to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe started in Bakio, a small town on the Basque coast.

The museum is split into two floors, and these into 33 galleries, ordered chronologically. The museum also puts on temporary exhibitions, of all artistic tastes. This time, we had the good fortune to have a history expert in our group, who told us all about the local art scene, and the history of the works and of their creators.

El museo está organizado en dos pisos, a lo largo de los cuales se reparten 33 salas que ordenan cronológicamente las obras. Además periódicamente, existen algunas salas dedicadas a exposiciones temporales, que pueden ser de los más diversos gustos artísticos. Esta vez tuvimos la gran alegría de tener a un experto en historia entre nosotros y aprendimos mucho sobre la escena artística local, la historia y los pintores autores de las obras.
