Known in Basque as the "Zubizuri", this white bridge was built by Santiago Calatrava between 1990 and 1997.
El Zubizuri (del euskera "puente blanco"), también conocido como el Puente Peatonal del Campo de VolantÃn, aunque popularmente llamado puente de Calatrava, es un puente en arco (cuya pista cuelga de él) sobre la rÃa del Nervión. Fue construÃdo por el arquitecto Calatrava entre el 1990 y el 1997.

At midnight on the 20th, the fiesta finishes with traditional music and a final representation in the Plaza de la Constitución.
A la medianoche del dÃa 20, la fiesta termina con una representación y música tradicional en la Plaza de la Constitución.
Inspired by artist Frida Kahlo, these Sandburg Elementary 4K students created their own self portraits. Sandburg students met with educator Barb Alvarado over a series of classroom visits in November and December of 2017, culminating in a Frieda Fiesta event at the Hawthorne Library in January of 2018.
This visit was part of the library's Language Liaison program, connecting young children and their families and caregivers to library resources for early learning in Spanish and Hmong. The Language Liaison program is partially funded by a grant from the Madison Public Library Foundation.

One of the most iconic symbols of Guernica is the tiled reproduction of Picasso's "Guernica". Picasso's Cubist style poigniantly demonstrates the horror and chaos of that terrible day.
Uno de los puntos de referencia más importantes de Guernica es esta reproducción cerámica de "Guernica", por Picasso. El estilo cubista del artista nos demuestra, de manera conmovedor, el horror y el caos de ese dÃa terrible.

We started our tour with a wander along the river into the city centre, towards Zurriola beach. There, we explored the famous Kursaal building, a conference centre located right on the seafront. Along the Concha bay, we were impressed by the powerful waves and the skill of the multitude of surfers riding them.
Empezamos el recorrido con un paseo a lo largo de la rÃa hacÃa a dentro de la ciudad, hasta la playa Zurriola, donde se encuentra la famosa Kursal, un centro de conferencias y congresos al lado del mar. Fuimos a lo largo de la costa, y nuestros estudiantes contemplaron las olas, muy impresionados por la fuerza con la que estas rompÃan contra las rocas.

22/10/11: Bilbao Night Marathon. The route constisted in a 42km loop around the city, starting at the Guggenheim and passing by Bilbao's most famous and most beautiful landmarks.

Next, we escaped the rain in the Peace Museum. Tucked away in the centre of Guernica, the museum boasts a very modern and innovative interior with many interactive exhibits.The Peace Museum is much more than a museum, but a place which seeks to explore the concept of peace itself, and search for the means to achieve it in the world.
Después escapamos la lluvia vasca con una vista al Museo de la Paz. Enclavado en el centro de Guernica, el museo dispone de un interior modernÃsimo con muchas exhibiciones interactivas. Este sitio no solo es un museo, sino también un sitio donde se puede explorar el concepto de la paz y cómo conseguirla.

This Thursday, 16th February, our Spanish students explored one of the Basque Country’s most important historical sites: the little town of Guernica. This visit was one of the free cultural activities that Instituto Hemingway offers its students, so that they might complement their studies of the Spanish language with knowledge of the Spanish culture.

Esta visita fue una de las actividades culturales que ofrece Instituto Hemingway de manera gratuita, pera que nuestros estudiantes conozcan la cultura española, además de la lengua.
