Garbage at Soundwave Melbourne 1 March 2013

Taken at Baltimore Comic Con October 2019

This custom Soundwave commission started as a Reveal the Shield Perceptor. The mold just screams Soundwave, so I painted him up in classics/Generation 1 Soundwave colors. I added weapons and head from the War For Cybertron Soundwave, swapped in a new front fender slightly modified the shoulders/backpack to give him a little more bulk up top, and went to town with details.

Sorry for the lack of updates; been busy with work and stuff. But I’ve finally got a higher spec DSLR (I’m a Nikonian now, instead of a Canon user) in April, and have been doing some test with it. Kindly ignore the distracting background. :)

My latest repaint, Soundwave from the upcoming movie "Transformers 2, Revenge of the Fallen" which is due out in the Summer of 2009. This figure is expected to hit shelves in the US June of 2009, but lucky me got it already, and gave it my special love.

Alice in Chains back in Australia in almost 16 years with their new singer, William Duvall playing in front of a massive crowd at the Soundwave festival in Melbourne, Australia.

I used Reveal the Shield Perceptor, with the head and shoulder cannon from War for Cybertron Soundwave.

The head was resculpted to look more cartoon accurate, giving the whole a figure a more unique look, and not just a head swap.

His blaster was kitbashed from various parts from other transformers.

I also included a modded G1 Laserbeak (Soundwave just isn't Soundwave without him!)

Soundwave's always been one of my favorite G1 characters. To do him right, I started with an oversized G1 Soundwave (courtesy of kotoys.com)

Here is the list of modifications made to Soundwave:

...- His plastic's been completely filled with epoxy to give him extra stability and weight.

- The articulated hands (all fingers move independently) are courtesy of Zildjian.

- The head was custom built using a variety of parts. (cast & available on ebay soon)

- The visor is clear red plastic and the head contains a red LED light, which runs to it's power supply and on/off switch in Soundwave's back.

- Soundwave's chest was also completely rebuilt and re-invented.

- Although "oversized" the chest holsters "regular" sized G1 cassettes.

- All details/mods were done w/ styrene.

- His waist also extends (telescope style) giving him another inch of height.

- His knees now bend back.

- His feet pivot to lay flat

- Decals were custom built and applied, most graphics are hand painted

- Embossed Decepticon symbol on chest is hand cut from styrene

This is a commissioned MP Soundwave for a client who's been extremely supportive and a great friend during a very difficult time. Justin requested Soundwave be non-transformable, which allowed me a bit of more creative freedom. I was able to paint Soundwave's lower legs all blue, because the insides won't double as the front of the cassette player mode. I was also able to give a little more range in Soundwave's hip articulation. The visor's red LED is powered by a small power pack in Soundwave's back with easy-access battery and on/off switch. His chest was rebuilt. Soundwave's articulation includes ; head (ball joint), shoulder, upper arm swivel, elbow, wrists, fingers, hips, knees, ankles and feet pivot.

I see a lot of people try to cosplay as robots at conventions. Usually they look like little kids walking around with poorly painted cardboard boxes on their limbs. Here is the exception to the rule. Best Transformers cosplay I've ever seen. Even the gun is accurate.

Oh, he's so pretty. And the parts just came together so nice!

The chest is my own creation out of ABS plastic. I plastic welded the cassette chest on (which works and holds Laserbeak). The head and gun came from Titanium Soundwave. The body is all Revoltech Soltic H8.

My next step is putting the buttons in the crotch area and replacing the thigh rotators with actual revoltech joints. Then I'll attempt to paint him. I've never painted ABS or PVC before...

According to the updated Vector Sigma database on the Hasbro website: Soundwave has been confirmed as the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG!

Rumor confirmed? Soundwave a triple changer? Satellite? Super sonic jet? Robot?
