As it turned out my postcards from Sarajevo to Germany arrived after 2 weeks, while it took only 2 days for Austria. The delivery to the USA took 3 weeks.
I arrived at the post office counter in Sarajevo and handed over my postcards to the clerk. She stuck the stamps on the cards and then started to stamp them. The noise of the stamping sounded through the large bright main hall and was deafening. She did it with a remarkable energy. The sound had its own rhythm and felt somehow prehistoric.
I should have recorded it, instead I stared like mesmerized at the motion sequences between the stamp-pad and the postcards.
When I stepped into the post office in Bangkok I felt that maybe it would be nice to provide you with some local post office soundscape.
::: D e u t s c h / G e r m a n :::
So, here it is:

Shoutout to Clementine for helping me regain access to my Soundcloud, after muggins here spelt the email login wrong on sign-up.
If a musician gets the right stage for his music, it proves very beneficial for him. SoundCloud is a great platform for such promising artists where they can listen to their music to the world. For this, you can buy one million SoundCloud plays service.
My buddy and frequent co-conspirator Dr. Jones came out to the lake for a couple days. We mostly relaxed on a hot and sunny weekend, but there was some formidable work to do. The Dr. needed to prepare a special summer cocktail for an annual family competition. His entry last year was a yummy-looking Gin Smoothie, and it was clear he'd need a similarly inspired entry this year if he had any hopes of holding his own.
After fueling up on a Huevos Rancheros brunch, and a long bracing swim, we set to work. We were somewhat unprepared, and constrained by our remote location, thirty minutes drive from any shopping. We set up a makeshift #CocktailLab with what we had on-hand. We had no way of knowing when we began, but the absence of pineapple would prove especially troublesome. We initially intended to perform a number of small iterative experiments, but after engaging in some some speculative and spirited theoretical discussions in the end our work concentrated into three significant and distinct phases.
Round One: Zombie-ish. One part each of rum, gin, and tequila. Large glass filled with ice, juice of a lime, top up with orange juice, garnish with frozen blueberries.
Round Two: Mango Plátano Tequila. For two large drinks... 3 oz Tequila. 5 tblsp coconut milk, 1 cup frozen mangoes, half a banana, a spoonful of honey, 2 cups of ice in a blender. Delicioso! This was a keeper! But I think we reached the highest level with...
Round Three: Hielo del Diablo ("The Devil's Ice"). [Seen above.] This was based on an appetizer in the cookbook Jump Up and Kiss Me. This one takes some time, overnight is best.
1) Mix two limes, one cup of frozen mango, one cup of orange juice in a blender. Pour into a freezer-proof container, freeze for two hours (so it is just starting to freeze).
2) Stem, seed, and finely mince one or two large jalapeños (or serranos if you are a little bolder) and stir them into the semi-frozen mixture.
3) Freeze mixture overnight. It will then be rock hard. (if you can't do it overnight, you probably need at least two more hours of freezing before serving.) When you are ready to consume The Devil's Ice, let it thaw for an hour or so, and mix it with a fork until it has firm slushy texture.
4) Fill a martini (or equivalent) glass with Hielo del Diablo, and add a shot (or so…) of tequila. I'm sure this would also work with many other liquors -- we need to perform more experiments! Mix and enjoy. Optional garnish: frozen blueberries (seen in photo).
Hielo del Diablo is literally a cool thing to use as a cocktail mix, or serve as a unique appetizer or inter-course palate cleanser. Could probably be combined with all sorts of things. Perfect on a hot day.
Memories of Southall station It was the Thursday before Easter Sunday, and I had stationed myself at my old childhood spotting haunt of Southall footbridge to photograph some of the Easter relief services that were timetabled. Of course back then there was plenty of traction to distract the photographer :)
50023 'Howe' is seen here accelerating away from a red signal with an eastbound parcels train. Note the old footbridge that used to pass over the tracks here, allowing Southall residents to get quickly over the railway without walking up to the road bridge. There was also an 'off-chute' with steps leading to the diesel depot - ostensibly for railway staff only, but which became a well-used spot for train spotters over the years (yours truly included) - all now sadly dismantled (and taken away to Didcot Railway Centre apparently). 50023 is wearing the original version of NSE livery with upward stripes on the cabs and white window surrounds - this livery was superseded by a darker shade of blue, straight lines and no white paint around the windows.
More exciting is the fact that I have her on audio tape - you can hear my recording of 50023 'Howe' on this day in the following link😍 soundcloud.com/sound-vision-10193594/class-50-heaven-part...
Locomotive History
D423 entered service 11-May-68
Renumbered 50023 in 1974
Named 'Howe' 17-May-78
Withdrawn 15-Oct-90
After ending up at C. F. Booth's of Rotherham, 'Howe' did eventually make it into preservation, but was used for spares and eventually cut up. It actually spent 14 years languishing at various railway dumps and scrapyards before being broken up by H.Needle Railroad Co. at Barrow Hill Depot in March 2004.
Taken with a Soviet made Zenith TTL SLR camera and 300mm telephoto lens, using Kodak ASA100 colour negative film. Scanned from the original negative with no digital restoration.
You can see a random selection of my railway photos here on Flickriver: www.flickriver.com/photos/themightyhood/random/

DJs & PRODUCERS
If you are an artist or engineer, there are two ways to apply for delegate status.
1. - Make a minimix featuring tunes published by the EXIT label
2. - Create a sound logo for the SHARE Conference
Minimix is a short DJ mix, 5-10 minutes in length, consisting of as many tracks. Only the EXIT label tracks are to be used for that purpose. You can download the tracks at www.exitmusic.tv
There is no set mixing technique. It is all up to you. Go analogue or digital, because anything goes.
Share your sounds: soundcloud.com/shareconference/dropbox
Sound Logo is a short distinctive melody or sequence of sound effects that represent the sonic identity of a brand (in this case, the SHARE Conference). The logo should not involve a voice pronouncing the name of the conference. The duration of the sound logo should not exceed 10 seconds.
Send me your sounds: soundcloud.com/groups/shareconference/dropbox
The competition is open until midnight on March 10, 2011. The results will be announced a few days later and the winners will be notified and accredited shortly. Thank you for your interest and involvement.

"She speaks like the rain,
But she howls at the moon.
She runs like the sun in the winter,
She's not coming home soon.
She follows the rain,
She runs like the water.
She revels in all his pain,
She hits like her father
She speaks like she wants,
Words dripping with disdain
She tells you she loves another,
But she keeps you in awe, keeps you insane.
'Cause she don't give a shit about you,
She will let you run away,
So just run away, run away
No she don't give a shit about you,
She will let you run away,
So just run away
No she don't give a fucking shit about you,
She will let you run away,
So just run away.
No, she don't give a shit about you,
She will let you run away,
So just run away."
