These impressing monkeys have an amazing mimikry. Its a subspecies of baboons wich live in the "Tierpark Berlin". Only one day with good weather when we were in Berlin for a long weekend - so we choosed to try to make some sunshine photos away from the many tourists in the inner city. This was a good idea.. :-D

Some more Short-eared Owl shots. I suspect these MAY be recently fledged birds, especially the flying one as every feather looks sharp and new. There were 4, possibly 5 birds indicating that some of the youngsters have fledged.
Black winter was changed by white winter. A better mood indeed! It is very special to wander in the white forest, surreal, dead silent and magical. I took a few photos, before my camera turned into a frozen snow ball...(it was cooold).
Robin eating Juniper berries before departing for the winter.

The Raven:
Ravens are among the smartest of all birds, gaining a reputation for solving ever more complicated problems invented by ever more creative scientists.
The Raven is an acrobatic flier, often doing rolls and somersaults in the air. Young birds are fond of playing games with sticks, repeatedly dropping them, then diving to catch them in midair.
People around the world sense a certain kind of personality in ravens. Edgar Allan Poe clearly found them a little creepy. The captive ravens at the Tower of London are beloved and perhaps a little feared: legend has it that if they ever leave the tower, the British Empire will crumble.
Common Ravens can mimic the calls of other bird species. When raised in captivity, they can even imitate human words; one Common Raven raised from birth was taught to mimic the word “nevermore.”
The oldest known wild Common Raven was at least 22 years, 7 months old. It was banded and found again in Nova Scotia.

I saw some nice poppies at my neighbour's hedge. While taking pictures I discovered this tiny visitor.
Sweat bee (Lasioglossum / Schmalbiene) on field poppy (Papaver rhoeas / Klatschmohn) 😉 HBW!

We have had terrible smoke for about a week, thankfully it's dissipating some now this weekend. This, however pales in comparison to what Washington, Oregon and California are experiencing.
