Solar Power Securing Our Future... or enclosing more land? I 100% support renewable energy but there is a sub-plot here that is more insidious - the enclosure of more land. This is how the rich robbed the poor in England's history - a wrong that has never been righted... well, not yet. Nations who have been invaded by other Nations demand retribution. Perhaps we should use the same measure for measure?
Five years ago, the city of Berkeley pulled the electric meter for the Shipyard, forcing Jim to begin exploring how to create his own power. The result: the Powertainer, an array of solar panels feeding a self contained shipping container filled with 17,000lbs of batteries, Zantrax inverters, and the custom built "Peef-o-Matic" three phase synchronizer (named after its designer, Peef ). In the end, they were able to run three phase shop hardware off the generated juice.

This powertainer was used to supply solar power to light the main pavilion at Burning Man 2007.

It was powered by the sun, and changed pitch dependiong on how many people were "in range, the intensity of the light, etc (I think).
I just noticed that the Speed Camera outside our Office is powered by a Solar Panel (or maybe only the Sensor under the Road)
