I taught a photography camp for the pre-K crowd and one of the projects for the week was sun printing - I hadn't done these since elementary school and thought what a great intro into photography for my campers. We hunted the school's huge yard for our favorite leaves and flowers, designed them, and burned them into these wonderful prints. I had a few sheets left so I showed Arlis how to make 'em!

Elevator to a skybar called Solar. This is a 20-second exposure
from my hotel across the way. And the checkerboard pattern is a
reflection from the window shade. I didn't get very sophisticated
with the setup. It was late.

A solar flare is an intense burst of radiation coming from the release of magnetic energy. Flares are our solar system’s largest explosive events. They can last from minutes to hours.
Flares are closely associated with the ejection of plasmas and particles through the Sun's corona into outer space. If the ejection is in the direction of the Earth, particles associated with this disturbance can penetrate the upper atmosphere and cause bright aurora.
Flares also occur on other stars, where the term stellar flare applies.

Solar Canopy designed to be a research project for Earth Centre. Photo-voltaic cells supported on a wooden trellis which was designed to look a little like a forest. Each metal joint was individual. Provided a canopy and shelter for the paved area underneath. Generated (supposedly) enough electricity for 42 houses.
