This image of the local woodlands on a misty morning with the sunlight breaking through, reminds me of descriptions of woodlands in Tolkien’s books, it had that romantic atmosphere on this particular day.

Since 1835 the oldest standing lighthouse in Newfoundland and Labrador has been welcoming the first morning rays of sunshine to hit North America. This National Historic Site was home to multi generations of lighthouse keepers. “The human history of Cape Spear Lighthouse is the story of the Cantwells. For over 150 years, generations of this famous family of lightkeepers resided at Cape Spear and worked tirelessly to maintain a light so vital to mariners.”

Portobello Beach
The Seaside Award-winning beach draws large crowds in good weather and, along with the promenade, hosts a number of popular events, including the annual Big Beach Busk, international volleyball competitions and triathlon events.
Historic arch from the 14th century, located on Calle Barchilla, next to the Cathedral. It links the Archbishop's Palace with the Cathedral.
