Sailboats anchored in scenic Tod Inlet at sunset. This tree-lined cove is accessible only by boat or by hiking the Tod Inlet or Tod Creek Trail. Along the shore are the remains of the piers of the old cement plant loading docks as well as birdhouses for purple martins attached to the pilings. Gowlland Tod Provincial Park, Vancouver Island, BC.

Tod Inlet was used by the Vancouver Portland Cement Company in the early 1900s and there are many remnants of old buildings, train tracks, and pillars that were used as a large dock for steamships. It was a thriving industry until the land used for limestone quarrying was exhausted in 1912 (now the site of the adjacent world famous Butchart Gardens) and operations were subsequently moved to Bamberton, across the Saanich Inlet.

Living with cats means being prepared for them to take over your furniture and discover new cat napping spots when they get bored with the old ones. Lately Marley has been crashing on the wicker chair...might have something to do with my moving the faux furry pillow from the couch to this chair. Cats notice everything! Happy Caturday!
