2022-11-11--Members of the Washington University in St. Louis community gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction of a new, student-designed occupational therapy outpatient clinic in the Delmar Maker District. A team of architects, medical professionals and engineers, including students, from Washington University in St. Louis and Chicago-based architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill have collaborated for the past year to conceive and design SMOOTH House (Smart Home for Occupational Therapy Healing) as part of the University’s efforts to build a carbon neutral, net-zero building for the US Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2023 Build Challenge.

We found this Smooth Newt while digging the new Kingfisher bank on the sheltered lagoon. We think this may be a pregnant female as it is very large around the middle so could be full of eggs.

November 6, 2017 - Working into the dark and after the 7pm noise curfew on smoothing the first parking level concrete in P2.
The smoother portions of the paths up and down Mt. Vodno weren't always that easy to traverse with all the snow. I had to foot-ski down much of the way.
I didn't happen upon a photo shoot or anything, this was just a guy and his car on the street in Tribeca.
I wanted to take some of the black mass out of his suit so I though I could introduce some gray if I tried black & white. If there's gray in there I couldn't find it.
By the way, I'm thinking that's a '55 or '56 Ford Thunderbird.

This is the seasons temporary outdoor ice skating rink on the Steenplein. After the days skating is over, it is time to brush the ice smooth again. Because of the unusual warm winter weather it takes a lot of energy to maintain this open air ice skating rink.
The Gulf Coast Smooth Softshell reaches the eastern extent of its range in Florida's Escambia River, where it occupies a handful of sandbars near the Alabama line. This species is tough to detect, given that is often buried in the sand and doesn't enter traps often. I was able to catch this adult male by following its tracks to where it had buried itself at the base of a sandbar.

June 29, 2017 - I actually recorded a seven minute video of us being lowered in the lift however it is way to large to post on Flickr. It was an exciting experience! Sailing aboard Chang Jiang SanXia 5 in the Ship Lock Lift which allows ships to be raised/lowered to pass the Three Gorges Dam. This saves time instead of navigating through the lock system at the dam which larger ships must navigate. Three Gorges Dam located in the Hubei province, China.
