This was tricky. At least for me. Shooting the Common Newt. I think Henrietta's photo will be better. She used a superzoom and that's probably the way to go.

I don't usually think of desaturating my photos. I thought of it this time as one is c. 1952 and therefore already b&w.

It can be very difficult to distinguish the Smooth Newt from the Palmate Newt. Females are particularly difficult to tell apart, similiar in size, the best pointer is the darker spotting or speckling on the throats of Smooth Newts.

Neahkahnie Beach.

The title is in regards to the background, which to me looks like it's painted and I quite like it.

A very young smooth snake, probably born within the last day or so (found in a different area to the other one photographed).

It is hard to imagine the velocity of the water that flowed through the Lower Antelope Slot Canyon causing this erratic formation.

The Albuquerque Museum has a newer exhibit about the history of Albuquerque and New Mexico. One feature is that the floor near the entrance of the exhibit is a map of Albuquerque.

The river that Amaya is standing next to is the Rio Grande going south (the direction moving toward the top of the photo is south, the direction closer to the bottom of the photo is north). The larger road that is near Amaya's toes and goes across the photos is Central Avenue, also known as Route 66. The place where she is standing is the location of Tingley Beach, the man-made fishing ponds. The larger green area to the south of Central Avenue is the Albuquerque Country Club. The Botanic Garden area is to the north of Central with the patches of green and the spaces that look like clear, open dirt and a field.

There is a space between the Rio Grande and construction on both sides of the river. This is the bosque, which is a forest. It has trails and biking paths through it. It also has an arroyo running parallel to it.

How many museums do you go to in order to sit on the floor and the study what is there?
