Noticed this lettering engraved into the stone under one of the bridges along the River Kelvin in the West End, "smoothed rock". Beautifully done lettering, but I have no idea why it is there! But it caught my eye and with the sunlight and shadows on the stone I thought it deserved a quick black and white shot

reflections in the water

Smooth newt found during yesterday's pond survey. The survey was strictly supervised according to UK regulartions as it was thought there might be crested newts in the pond as well. The crested newt is a protected species in the UK.

I haven't remembered what kind of shell this is just yet, but it's beautifully smooth with subtle colors..
