HAPPY 2015!
The Regina campus building was designed by the architect Douglas Cardinal. Born of Métis and Blackfoot heritage, he is famous for flowing architecture marked with smooth lines and influenced by his Aboriginal heritage. Cardinal is perhaps best known for his designs of the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec (1989) and the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. (1998).
Crotophaga ani. I was struck by how the bird and the snag seemed to echo each other's rugged shape, while clinging together in the violent wind.
On the way to the Levada do Risco, I drove along the mountain pass (ER110), which was closed for quite some time until this weekend actually. I was lucky to catch some of the first sunlight in the morning...

(EXPLORE) Hi everyone, I'll be slowly stopping by to see you all now that I'm back! :)
Here's a first look at Vancouver Island, this is Parksville Beach nestled in a cove on the ocean. The weather was beautiful everyday (never hotter than 26 with light breezes) and this day was the warmest, bringing lots of people out to enjoy a beach day. It was very cool to walk way, way out to the water's edge and then move every hour or so back as the tides rolled in. The views were certainly wonderful to look at too! (More in comments)
Probably smooth newt, but can't say for sure that it isn't palmate. Discovered during a moth night at the Stiperstones. June '18.
