Since the market launch of the smart fortwo, BRABUS has aquired extensive know-how in the individualisation of smart cars. On the basis of this joint experience, smart and BRABUS decided to establish a joint venture. smart-BRABUS GmbH was duly founded as a joint venture headquartered in Bottrop in March 2002. The joint venture aims to offer fans of leading-edge design and technology the ultimate in exclusive and sporty products.
The 698 cc three-cylinder turbo engines of the smart roadster BRABUS and roadster-coupé BRABUS generate 74 kW of power, corresponding to 101 bhp. This rating and a maximum torque of 130 Newton metres makes the BRABUS version of the smart roadster and roadster-coupé thoroughbred sports machines. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 9.8 seconds and a maximum speed of around 195 km/h represent extremely attractive performance ratings. The interesting technical features include:

• Reinforced clutch
• Transmission designed for higher torque
• Revised engine software
The standard features of the BRABUS two-door models include sports suspension and 17” alloy wheels, softouch automatic transmission, heated black leather sports seats and a three-spoke leather sports steering wheel. Various accessories are available for further refinement of these full-blooded smart roadsters. The characteristic BRABUS features also include: Radiator grille, side skirts, front and rear spoiler in the colour of the car concerned. A sports exhaust comes as standard. Inside the vehicles, the BRABUS line is defined above all by a tasteful combination of aluminium and leather. Comprehensive optional packages expand the scope for individual configuration. On Saturday night we went to the Erotic LA convention.
The dictionary defines erotic as something that is of or concerns sexual love or desire.
This convention missed that mark by a mile. There was nothing titillating, tempting or erotic about the experience.
They wanted $30 a person to get in. We got ticket stubs from people who were leaving and said it was pretty much a shopping experience. They were right. Once we got in we found ourselves at what was basically a porn swap meet. A rennaissance fair is more erotic than what they had going on here.
It was rows and rows of glass dildos and DVDs and g-strings and corsets made of shiny, cheap synthetic fabric. The people walking around fell into pretty much two categories: Women with huge plastic boobs, fake blond hair and too much make up wearing teeny school girl skirts with platform stripper shoes and guys in groups or alone with bags of DVDs signed with x's and o's and a heart over the "i" in Brandi or Candi or Tiffani or Tami.
For anything I would consider erotic this totally blew, but for photo ops it was a target rich environment and I was kicking myself for not bringing the camera.
When we left we were talking about what would've made it actually erotic and our ideas were endless but better lighting was at the top of the list as well as music that didn't sound like the soundtrack to a bad porn movie.
That would be a start.
What does it say about our culture when badly lit porn scored with bad music being sold in bad lighting to the sounds of the same music is considered erotic?
Completely burned out Smart. Found at the same spot were I found a burned Espace earlier last year. Not a safe place here...

The second generation smart forfour at the mb!-store in The Hague (Den Haag).
The new smart fortwo and forfour are codeveloped with Renault, which uses the same platform for the Twingo city car. The fortwo and forfour come with three engine options: a 60 PS base model, a 71 PS 1,0-litre and a turbocharged 90 PS 0,9-litre engine (all sourced from Renault). Unlike their predecessors they both don't come with a diesel engine.
Since it's no longer based on the supermini Mitsubishi Colt, but instead being based on the same platform as the rear-wheel-drive new Twingo, it's one class smaller. It now shares its automobile layout with another Mitsubishi: the Kei car 'i' and the electric i-MiEV (Citroën C-Zero, Peugeot iOn).

I kind of like the smart design of this IKEA FUSION table. The chairs are shaped so that they fit perfectly around the curved corners of the table. It's quite expensive though, by IKEA standards, @ €249.
