A small nameless deep-forest waterfall beckoned us with its rushing sound, and did not disappoint. Near Picton, South Island, New Zealand.
A 'Small Copper' butterfly taking in what little sun there was this afternoon. Our wonderful display of Heleniums is finally coming to an end but they still seem to have some appeal to insects.

This tiny flower (Wild Geranium) stood out as I walked by. Sometimes the best things come in small packages ! Seen at the Los Angeles County Arboretum
Eastward train No.50 headed for Waterloo on the ex-Illinois Central Chicago to Omaha main. Ackley was once the diamond crossing with the Minneapolis & St Louis Ry main line between Mason City and Marshalltown. Today the east west line is operated by the CN. The M&StL is abandoned to the north, while the connection track here in the foreground connects to the Iowa River RR shortline that goes to a small ethanol plant about nine miles south of Ackley.

CN L568 rolls through the small town of Baden Ontario on a cold winter day with a classic Zebra GP9RM duo of CN 4125 & CN 4138. Baden is a cool example of a classic small Ontario town, with the railway running right through the middle of it, actually splitting the main intersection in two. The remnants of a grain elevator sits right behind the shot as a reminder of days past. Today, 568 has cars for Nachurs Alpine Solutions and Pestell Nutrition in New Hamburg. The Guelph sub was flooded near Shakespeare, making trips to Stratford too risky to attempt.
