I tried to catch them in flight, which doesn't work out really good and later I noticed they are no small white but southern small white. That's very exciting. Schwetzingen is awfully hot, just like the Mediterranean regions. Here the butterfly was still in flight, just like a hummingbird moth.

With thanks to Macro Mondays for letting me finally find a use for the ruler thingamajig on my phone.
This delicate orchid has just finished blooming and will go into the orchid 'nursery' from where I have just taken 3 other 'old' ones which have produced new flowering shoots.

A small copper butterfly resting on a piece of dried grass in the masts field at Prestbury Hill nature reserve in Gloucestershire.
I'm really pleased with how this came out, quite a few SC's around this year but not managed to get them mating before :)
This Green Heron hunted the edge of the Arboretum Pond at the For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum on this evening, July 3, 2021. This small and mighty hunter is a study in focus and determination. I love their behavior (although I am not a minnow!), their colors, and poses when I can get their hairy crown showing off!
This Great Blue Heron seemed to be pretty successful at catching fish, but they all seemed to be very small.
Sometime when the sun sets, it looks so small, the impact is can be seen everywhere, but there is just that minute or so where the sun looks to be just one small part of the story.

Small treasures in a tidepool at Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, just north of Half Moon Bay, California.
This little beauty could barely be seen from the seldom-used small country road off which it was located. When I made my way through the snow and thick bushes, I could not have been more pleased with it - small with lots of character and an open space for shooting. An interior view is posted to the right.
I would like to return in the spring when the snow has melted but before the vegetation is in leaf.
