The lake shore very gradually liquefying this year as temperatures continue to hover right at the freezing point, creating interesting abstractions at the edges of the thawing ice. I saw a flock of ducks fly past yesterday and heard the familiar honking of returning geese today, but they found no open water to encourage a stop. But spring approaches and soon the sound of the loons will once again echo across the lake.

♫ Slow, slow hands

Like sweat dripping down our dirty laundry

No, no chance

That I'm leaving here without you on me

I, I know

Yeah, I already know that there ain't no stoppin'

Your plans and those

Slow hands (woo) ♫

Hard roads and endless lines flow through his veins

Cold steel and hot fuel injected 's the dream that fills his brain

But no, not slow, the speed fever grows

He rides, he sees, he knows

You've got to ride to live, live to ride

Feel the flames burn inside

And though you know, you ride to hide

You ride to live to ride

Life's short and goes too fast, most pages burn

Don't wait, the end's too near, some people never learn

You all won't fall, the road fever calls

So run or fly, don't crawl

You've got to ride to live, live to ride

Looking back we had such a strange week in Scotland. At some stage in every day, normally late afternoon the wind would completely die down and the nearby sea or loch would become totally calm. I don't think I've ever seen such still bodies of water so often. It was a magnificent Slow Show by The National. It's so hard to resist Stac Pollaidh, my only companions here were thousands of toads, singing away.

Trees are older,

Mornings are colder.

Leaves are falling,

Migration's calling.

Passata è la tempesta

odo augelli far festa

Crazy?

Perhaps., but it makes for something different!

If you look closely in this long exposure you can see some surface bubbles and what I think was leaves moving slowly during the exposure. A neat effect :)

A chance encounter and a first for me.

I love these foggy mornings when the sun is struggling to penetrate the mist and the beauty of the day unfolds so very, very slowly.
