Two empty and abandoned storage units tell us a story of time and change; wooden units now replaced with more modern metal materials. Slightly tilted as the ground beneath them has given way and unevenly weathered from the severe elements that beat on them like morning scrambled eggs. Battered and bruised, their wooden empty carcass' still stand as structures that used to hold the canola that continues to grow around them.

Slightly obsessed with these beauties but this is the last on in the series.

When we last had frost I thought I would give it a go but it wasn't quite cold enough :)

A slightly different version of an Ai work created in Deep Dream Generator - Text 2 Dream using my artwork below as a source and Darlene's prompt and parameters:

Snow Queen with blonde hair, intense eyes with a beautiful face, an elaborate headdress of winter white roses, pearls and diamonds. Dressed in an insanely detailed grown made of lace, pearls and diamonds. Ice crystals...

and... Adelheid's prompt and parameters for the castle layers: Beautiful dreamy magical castle at winter in the barren, rocky mountains in a snowstorm, hyper detailed.

Filters: PSE21.

Three layers.

As you can see, we've had some wind that has caused a bit of damage to the spring flowers.

Slightly decaying sculpture: 'Skyscraper' by Erno Bartha.

I remember when I was a child growing up in the fifties that these rural roadside automotive lube and repair joints were as common as dirt. Now it seems they are but a fading memory just like cheap gas. Locally owned, usually by a single proprietor who was also the chief mechanic on duty, they were there to help you when you were traveling the old two lane blacktops and your car wasn’t feeling well. The old cars of the era weren’t the most reliable things but they were simple and easily fixed by almost any shade tree mechanic. You didn’t need to be an automotive engineer to repair one. Often times you just needed the points filed, the spark plugs cleaned, a thermostat replaced, or a tire inner tube patched. It could all be done right here while you waited. I can still remember those old fellows in their cotton coveralls all soiled and greasy smelling with motor oil and lithium lube. I’m sure their wives complained about the bathtub ring each night. I miss those times. Even today when I catch a whiff of chassis grease, I’m transported back in time to a day when cars had a straight six engine, a three on the tree shifter, and the transmission whined as you shifted through the gears. Hats off to all of those roadside mechanics that kept our cars on the road and helped us make our destination. They are the unsung heroes of this nation. Cheers.

Slightly too long on the shutter and started to get a bit of movement in the stars and the moon was too big that night to get any proper definition. Taken at the boundry fence to a quarry in Bembridge by the sea.

A slightly different take on Bluebells for me this year, instead of my usual landscape style image I have opted for a more detailed and individual study. The spasmodic rain experienced on the day has revealed itself in some of these images.

When the outside temperature rises

And the meaning is oh so clear

One thousand and one yellow daffodils

Begin to dance in front of you - oh dear

Are they trying to tell you something

Youre missing that one final screw

Youre simply not in the pink my dear

To be honest you haven't got a clue

Im going slightly mad

Im going slightly mad

It finally happened - happened

It finally happened - ooh oh

It finally happened

Im slightly mad

Oh dear

A slightly battered but still beautiful tulip I found in a front garden around the corner just the other day. When I took the photo, perched rather uncomfortably (and therefore quite wobbly) halfway under a shrub, I didn't even notice the tiny visitor on one of the petals because I was all concentrated on keeping the camera as still as possible. I slightly blew the photo up in Gigapixel AI so the visitor is better visible when you zoom in.

Taken on a first short photo stroll with my "new old" Lumix LX100 Mark II which I just bought used in very good condition (apparently no dust spots on the sensor, only minor signs of usage, but I haven't checked the shutter count, yet, because it's a little complicated) because the zoom motor on my old, beloved LX100 is getting quirky. The slightly better resolution of the Mark II's 21 MP sensor (of which the camera only uses 17 MP due to Panasonic's so-called "multi-aspect sensor" – why, Panasonic, why????) yields beautiful details and a sharp, crisp rendering even nicer than that of the predecessor. So far, I'm very happy with my first used camera purchase :)

Happy Wednesday Macro/Mittwochsmakro, everyone!

Was actually slightly grey

Darker around the edges

A definite tinge

A flirtatious curve at the bottom

As if daring you to imagine something

Transform it into a different existence

It’s texture was surprising

Smooth and soft like the very top

Of a snowy slope

But hung indoors

It reflected onto the black linoleum floor that was speckled

With unpredictable dashes of white

When you looked down

You imagined

You were floating in a

Modern art galaxy very far away

From everything and everyone

You know

When you looked up you realized

It wasn’t a blank canvas at all.

In May, I went to a doctor's appointment that was very difficult for me. Most of the time, I try to forget about my biology but my heart will often skip beats and I keep spending more money to get no answers, making me wonder if it's just in my head.

I have been living in Chicago for over 20 years but I had never come across The Arts Club of Chicago even though it is located very central downtown near a couple of doctor's offices. It was a dreary day and I spent some time wandering around and happened upon this gallery featuring the exhibit by Huguette Caland: Bribes de corps. It's amazing how art finds you when you least expect it. I found myself staring at canvases and writing poems to calm my nervous system.

This exhibit is ending very soon but I revisited this weekend. The bottom section is the actual canvas. The top portion is a multiple exposure of the canvas and a photograph of a woman passing by from the window opposite of the painting.
