This is a single frame of the nearly eclipsed moon from last night.
I found that the longest exposure that I could reasonably use with the 300 mm lens is no more than .5 seconds. Anything longer gave star trails and thus blurred features on the moon's face. In retrospect, I probably should have set up the telescope mount.
For this image, I brought the raw file into PPL4 and applied a slight curve to bring up the darks and temper the lights, some noise reduction, and cropping.
A brief post from the garden moth trap
A distinct lack of new for year species on Monday night, but still a big catch for here.
There were two new for year macros, and two others that had already been recorded but were worthy of photographing, a jet black, but a bit tatty Peppered Moth, a colour form I see very often.
The other moth was an aberrant Vine's Rustic.
One Coleophora is still to be checked
The only other new one was a Hedya salicella, unfortunately it took flight before I got a pot on it! Luckily I photographed a much better specimen from last weeks field trip.
Garden species count for 2019 now upto 307.

For some reason, I'd never stopped to photograph the Rossie Viaduct until the other day and thanks to the dense shadows in this photo, I'm going to come back and try to capture this viaduct again in the Summer when the sun is higher in the sky.
It's quite rare that I end up photographing live line railway structures but since I was in the area, it seemed rude not to have a look. On the way home, I took a different route home and I noticed that there's a way you can get a trackside vantage so I'll try that next time I'm up here. I just have to hope the farmer doesn't mind me walking along the edge of his field...

My plan for today's photo was to stop at a farm stand on the Barrington Parkway. First, I need some native corn, and second, the setting is great for a photo. There was only one problem. The farm stand wasn't open when I went there. Now with the clock ticking - I only have a limited amount of time for lunch - I needed a backup location in a hurry. Knowing there would be a lot of people enjoying today's weather, I continued down 114 to the East Bay Bike Path. I like this little section because of the wooden fence and background woodlands, so I composed my shot and waited. It only took a couple of minutes for some bikers to pass through the scene, and it's exactly the type shot I had in mind. I may have to try this setting again with a slightly wider angle and a much slower shutter speed. The same background with some blurred motion could prove interesting.
Post processing started with a detail light filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted adaptive exposure, regions, protect highlights, contrast, and adaptive saturation. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
