In Annapolis Royal there is the beautiful 17-acre Historic Gardens, rated as Canada's 2015 Garden of the Year! In a tranquil setting overlooking a tidal river valley, the Historic Gardens showcase gardening methods, designs and materials representing more than four hundred years of Canadian history. Highlights include the largest rose collection in Eastern Canada, a reconstructed 1671 Acadian House and much, much more.
One of the premiere collections in Atlantic Canada, the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens are a gardener’s paradise and a photographer’s delight! The rhododendron & azalea collection at the Gardens is a June highlight.
There are no rules and regulations for perfect composition. If there were we would be able to put all the information into a computer and would come out with a masterpiece. We know that's impossible. You have to compose by the seat of your pants.

And this saying held true for this shot. I had mere minutes to compose and shoot as many shots possible as this light was changing so quickly. 10, 15 minutes maximum and the sun was up, the colours gone.

The leaves are falling from the trees so early this year with the continuing drought in southern England. Stressed trees are shedding leaves to maximise the available water and stay alive. Hoping to finally see some rain this week but not much is forecast! Thousands of beautifully coloured and very dry and brittle leaves to choose from for this weeks topic though!
This two-storeyed former hotel was constructed in 1885 for Brisbane publican Daniel Costigan. It replaced a previous, less substantial structure on the site, which had functioned as the Plough Inn since 1864. The new building was erected during South Brisbane's heyday and was part of the 1880s boom-time reconstruction of Stanley Street premises.
The building was designed by architect Alexander B. Wilson, who is more known for his domestic work. It was built by contractor Abraham James, whose tender of £3,300 was accepted in March 1885.
The hotel, prominently located in central Stanley Street, serviced the commercial heart of South Brisbane. Its proximity to the South Brisbane wharves ensured its popularity amongst those engaged in shipping interests.
Initially the L-shaped interior comprised on the ground floor: a central hall, staircase, dining room, two private rooms (probably for dining also), bar, parlour, storage spaces, billiard room, and lavatories; the first floor contained fourteen guest rooms and a bathroom. A verandah along the back of the building connected it to a detached single-storey kitchen. A cellar completed the facilities.
The building has been altered a number of times since its initial construction. In 1922, additions were made by contractors Robertson and Corbette, following the designs of GHM Addison and Son. It is thought that the street awning was added at this time.
In 1987 the building was modified to function as a tavern during Expo '88. Most of the internal walls were removed, the central fireplace and chimney were taken out, and the interior was re-fitted. Also the front verandah was widened, the rear verandah extended, and windows and doors replaced at this time.
In 1991 - 1992 a conservation plan for the Plough Inn was prepared by Bruce Buchanan architects, and the interior was fully refurbished. The front verandah was also reconstructed.

Not sure on the ID of this one but I think this is a juvenile sac spider. If anyone can confirm or correct me I'd be very of grateful.
This was a very small fellow sitting on a leaf, and when I started firing off shots he posed a bit. I like the delicacy of this one.

Often overlooked by photographers are the handful of semaphores left between Cerrillos and Lamy, NM, mostly because they aren't easily accessible. These are some of the older signal installations on the former Santa Fe, with the eastbound and westbound signals staggered approximately a quarter mile apart. Here, the westbound Chief screams by the 8472 semaphore out in the middle of nowhere, NM.

A single JR E120 DMU crosses over the second Tadami River Bridge near Aizu-Nishikata station as the sun peaks over the snowy landscape of Fukushima Prefecture. No matter the season, JR's Tadami Line is absolutely stunning.
