Jennifer Kimball

Singer/Songwriter

February 2016

This year I started to reach out to people whom I've admired for a long time and ask if I could take their portrait.

Jennifer Kimball is a singer/songwriter who was a member of the band "The Story" in the early 1990's. She was in "The Story" with another singer I just recently photographed, Jonatha Brooke.

I'm not sure how it worked out that I was able to photograph both of them in the same week. It was amazing.

Jennifer is working with another musician I've worked with in the past. When I learned of this connection, I reached out to that mutual friend and asked if he thought Jennifer might be receptive if I reached out to her.

So I did.

She said yes.

She spent the day with me at the studio. We took things organically. I got to just play around, which is always refreshing.

I started the session very nervous, and ended the session with a new friend.

I was able to meet and work with Jennifer through the power of photography. It's amazing.

Here are some sample final images from that session.

American singer Charles Bradley performs onstage during 51st edition of Heineken Jazzaldia Festival on July 24, 2016 in San Sebastian, Spain.

A musical and dance Troupe from Shanghai University came over to perform to the festival. They were cold but didn't show it while doing their act!

Acquired a second one of these to use as spares to get one done up and working beautifully!

This old machine still works like a charm. Its cranked with one hand while the fabric is controlled with the other. My friend, Carol, the museum directors wife, is making a quilt with it right now.
