Two vintage machines at Salvation Army. My husband bought the teal one for ten bucks so he could have his own to play with!
I found a bag of negatives and contact sheets at the Scrap Exchange (a local thrift store for raw art materials). For 75¢, it was mine. To turn them into positives, I took a photo with a macro lens while holding them in front of a piece of paper in front of my flash.
There wasn't much information on the negatives--one sheet said 1969, another 1970. No names, except for the occasional first name of the subject. One sheet was of photos of a stage production, and was labeled "Lion & Winter" (assuming this was actually "A Lion In Winter"). Another couple of sheets were photos of sculpture and were labeled "Museum of Modern Art NYC." Some photos of people goofing around, some portraits of a couple in various outdoor poses, some landscapes, one shot of someone surfing. One sheet said "Sweetwater", and sure enough, it's photos of the band Sweetwater from the '60s.
This set of photos I'm uploading appears to be from a protest gathering. Many of the people are wearing white armbands, there's music being played on acoustic guitars. In most of the shots, everyone looks a little concerned. I'm not certain, but the setting looks like UNC's pit area outside the student union.
If anyone has any idea who might have taken these, or if I'm right about the location and the nature of the event, do let me know.
UPDATE: People who are in these photos or who were present at this event have contacted me with info. This event is the National Moratorium Day Against the War, on UNC campus in 1969.
The lady in red here is sewing bunting together on an old hand operated Singer sewing machine . Yes she turns the crank handle on her right to make it go . This machine is off 1930's vintage but visually they were the same in the 1870's when they were made available to the mass market . I remember reading news papers of that time and these machines were the technical marvel of the age , all clothing and anything that needed to be sewn could now be done with a machine as opposed to doing the task by hand .

Bryan Singer has been fired as director of the forthcoming Freddie Mercury biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody.
This was one of the entrants in the Lancashire Automobile Club's Manchester to Blackpool Veteran and Vintage Car Run, starting from The Village Hotel at Cheadle, Stockport, in June 1993. It's a 1933 Singer Le Mans, and the only information the programme of the event had about it was that the owner was Eric Watkiss of Ansdell, Lytham, Lancashire. The Le Mans was a variant of the 972cc inline-4 Singer 9 model with a more highly tuned engine and other improvements that made it successful at a variety of motoring events, including Le Mans.

I love street photography! I shot this guy from his front side a number of times and as I was walking away turned around and shot him from behind. Of the 10, or so shots, I like this one the best, because of his posture, the guitar strap, and the people walking by. The streetlight looks like a spotlight shining on him. I also like the curves---his hat, his shoulder, his elbow, and the guitar all kind of flow downward. One person is looking in his direction---the rest are moving on. He did have a pile of money in his guitar case and he had a real nice sound. Play on!
This was made in Appleton, WI, at the mile of old cars show on College Avenue. We walked the whole mile and the number of old cars and people was unbelievable.
I made this image with my Pentax K5 and Pentax 50mm, f/1.4 lens. Processing was done in Aperture 3 and NIK Silver Efex 2.
Camera settings: ISO 800(I should have had it at 1600.), aperture 1.6, shutter 1/15(had held), focal length 50mm
