Austrian singer Freddy Quinn (1931) adopted the persona of the rootless wanderer who goes to sea but longs for a home, family and friends. He also sang and acted in many popular schlager films of the 1950’s and early 1960’s.

vintage Singer 306K sewing machine by Sabine

This beautiful vintage Singer 306K sewing machine was recently given to me by someone cleaning out the house of her deceased parents in law. Her mother in law was a seamstress. She bought this Singer 306K in Bruxelles in May 1956 for 15.450 Belgian Francs ( = 383 Euro). That was a lot of money in those days...

I'm thrilled it's now in my own little sewing attic. Can't wait to try it out.
