Since I didn't want to use a flash, I asked her to sit on the table because the lights on top of the pool tables was the only light source in the joint and I thought it made for a good shot too. ;)

This lioness was definitely the most regal animal at the Virginia Zoo. She had tough competition with the peacock, but since she's a lion and could eat me, she wins. Photo by Mackenzie Brunson, All Rights Reserved

Since I arrived home, the banana and oranges left on kitchen table for three weeks. I forgot to toss those away before we left for vacation.
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Aug 1, 2024) Midshipmen 4th Class, or plebes, from the United States Naval Academy class of 2028 participate in the third formal parade during Plebe Summer, a demanding indoctrination period intended to transition the candidates from civilian to military life. Parades are a visual presentation of the military discipline, professionalism and teamwork necessary to succeed as a member of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, and have been a part of Naval Academy training since its establishment in 1845. Since Ali's gone this week, I decided to cheer zeus up (he was really depressed) by getting him some greenies (his favorite). I start by checking the house to make sure he didn't do anything wrong while he gets himself into a tizzy. Then I tease him with the bag of treats for a while, telling him I think I'll have a few. Then I show him the greenie and make him sit, as seen here.
Ever since I first saw Steve McCurry's iconic photograph, "Afghan Girl", I've always been fascinated by his work in photojournalism. I love how the majority of his images are taken internationally and highlight the daily lives of people around the world that we wouldn't otherwise see. I really like this particular image because of its composition and framing. Even though it's centered in the middle, I like that the man is slightly off to the side. The reflection of the water is so crisp and sharp and I love how the value of the image goes from light to dark, from top to bottom respectively.
PHR and I have been friends since 1965, making him my oldest friend. On Saturday, July 2, 2011 he married SFJ at the historic Pembroke College Chapel, Oxford. The evening before, on July 1, 2011, they hosted a drinks reception for family and friends on Radcliffe Square, at the foot of the magnificent Radcliffe Camera. The post-wedding reception was at the Cherwell Boathouse, just to the north of Oxford. Here are some of my pictures from July 1-2, 2011.
Since the 2007 New York Auto Show opens to the public tomorrow, I figured that I better post my 2006 Auto Show photos before they really become obsolete; galleries.jchinphotography.com/gallery/1531997.
Since the sun was out, we pretty much gave up on trying to get any pictures of waterfalls. So we drove around and explored some other places nearby. We drove up to the top of the mountain, which provided this overlook of Mount Magazine.
Reaching 2,753 feet, Mount Magazine is the tallest spot in Arkansas. Mt. Magazine got it's name thanks to some French explorers, who apparently " were travelling through the area and a landslide occurred on the mountain. The noise from the landslide was so great that one explorer described it as the sound of an ammunition magazine exploding. The explorers then named the mountain 'Magazine'."
This is a shot of the hi-tech Meikai 4351 SSN with Leica f5.6 50mm Plastic lens .... or as referred to by me .... "The ShitCam"

Roeser's Bakery, 3216 W. North, Chicago. The coffee is now Intelligentsia, and the TV is playing footage from one of the times this place has been featured on the Food Network (they have a championship cake decorator! I'm trying to find the link to that episode, but haven't yet)

Since I forgot to shoot the figure before I started destroying it, I took this shot from the producer's website.
This gentleman is selling various preserves and, depending upon the season, pumpkins & artichokes and has been doing that ever since I moved into the apartment on the opposite corner in 1992. So it's over 20 years .
Since 1999, Bill has contributed to the Canadian Cancer Society. He is just finishing a 6 year term as the President of the North Eastern Unit and as a member of the division board.
At the unit board level, Bill leads from the perspective of “volunteering should be fun.” While the business to be done is taken seriously, he mentors a family festive atmosphere among the unit board members. They joke together and celebrate together, and are there for each other during rough times. This makes meetings and volunteer activities successful for the Society and good memories for those involved.
This family atmosphere is wed together with another of Bill and the unit’s thoughts on volunteering – the more the merrier. It is because this attitude is fostered that this unit is envied by other units in Saskatchewan for having so many rural communities represented on its unit board.
Bill is a strong supporter of Relay For Life and has been the MC and entertainment person for all the Relays held in the North Eastern Unit. The 2012 Relay in Tisdale will mark the 12th Relay in a row he served as master of ceremonies. An astounding $1.5 million has been raised from the previous year’s events, which are rotated between Nipawin, Melfort and Tisdale each year.
Bill’s 38 years with CJVR and his commitment to the Society has provided the Society with wonderful exposure in the North Eastern Unit community. He constantly goes above and beyond being of service to the Society. In 2003 CJVR was presented with the National Special Recognition award for their support of the Society.
At the division board level, Bill takes his stewardship role seriously. Bill comes to each meeting prepared to discuss, question, understand and offer alternatives or caution. He communicates with the unit board regularly about division business and solicits their thoughts, bringing this information to the division board table. Bill can clearly advocate for a direction he feels passionately about which is an asset to in-depth division board discussion. He also does not hesitate to offer public and private appreciation to volunteers or staff he has noticed doing their own best in their work.
In learning about his receipt of this award, Bill had this response: I’m honored – but at the same time humbled to receive any award. Like many volunteers we feel we’re part of a collective and we feel like we should not be singled out. I will accept any award on behalf of the Unit I represent. It’s Manager, committee members and volunteers within that unit.
I don’t think much about awards – I think a lot about those who are living with cancer and how I can support them.
Whether Bill is mentoring an atmosphere of fun and family among the volunteers he leads, or whether Bill is preparing, advocating for, and making board decisions, Bill has proven himself to be deserving of a National Citation of Merit. We would be remiss if we did not also use this opportunity to thank him with a certificate marking his 6 years of service on the division board.
Since Monday's trip up the tram included overcast skies and even some rain, I decided to go back up on Tuesday. After all, when the tickets are discounted from $17 to $6, why not?
I love music...Since late 2003 I have been listening to heavy metal music and when I bought my own computer in 2009 I started to download albums of metal bands...Since 2016 I have been downloading full discographies of all the albums of metal bands I love...I have more than 18 GB of music in my computer in mp3 format and in my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone...Most people believe heavy metal music is associated with drugs and violence which is not true...I don't wear T-Shirts with labels of metal bands, I don't drive motorcycle as fans of metal music often do ( I don't know even how to ride a motorcycle...The album cover arts of these bands are here...They are Metallica, Megadeth, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Slipknot, KoRn, Disturbed, Lamb of God, Dream Theater, Five Finger Death Punch, Mastodon, and Anthrax. I have lots of free time since I don't work anymore so what I do is play with the computer, smoke cigarettes, drink coffee, and take photos / videos and upload them to Facebook and other sites... :)
Since I haven't posted any flowers lately, here is one. I've got to go and do some grocery shopping now. Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday.

Since Mr. Wubba had come to live with them, the girls had trained him to be refined. He was very sweet and gentle. Yet, one day, his inner wild-wubba came out. As Donna sat to eat a cupcake, Mr. Wubba swooped down and locked his jaws on it. Donna was shocked!
She cried, "Mr. Wubba, how could you?"
But he paid her no mind. He dove through the lavish icing to get to the cake and seemed to forget that Donna was even there as he enjoyed his snack. He wasn't being mean. He was just being...a Wubba.
Since 1934, the Flying Doctors of Mercy have been creating miracles deep in the heart of México, where only the employed can afford medical and dental care.
With modern donated equipment, Liga volunteers treat tens of thousands of persons every year, and provide millions of dollars in services to the local peoples.
Audiologists, physicians, surgeons, podiatrists, anesthetists, nurses, translators and others from all corners of the globe, depart in aircraft from California, Arizona and Nevada for their flights to historic El Fuerte in the State of Sinaloa, México. When they return to their homes early Sunday afternoon, they will have been away little more than 48 hours, but together they will have changed over 1,000 lives, and have experienced a trip of a lifetime.

The owner of this house died in 1988 and it has been abandoned since. You can tell it really has fell into a state of disrepair with many of the windows broken. It actually is a large farmhouse and was probably one of the nicer ones in the rural area at the time it was built in the 1890's.
