Ever since I was a small child I loved this little bird and dreamed that some day I would see him. Up until that point I only saw it on the cover of a book. My first glimpse of one was in Connecticut many years later and I stopped the car to take in his beauty !! He is small but packed with gorgeous colors. Last week I was able to capture an image in Central Florida . Needless to say I was thrilled .

Wishing you a beautiful and blessed day !!!!!!!!!!!

Since I am drowning in pictures I am going to hop through all the places where I have been otherwise it might take 100 years before I post really nice shots from locations I would like to share.

This shot was taken in the area of the Lyngen Alps at Lenangsoyra. It is the most northern location I have been during my trip at almost 70 degrees NB in the polar circle. I was here early June and as you can see there still was a lot of snow. In fact in most of the places in Norway at that time there was snow everywhere. It gave a wonderful view to the landscapes.

This area is part of a cape where I enjoyed the views of the fjords but also birds flying by like puffins and razorbills.

Is it peaceful? Is it free like they say?

Does the sun shine bright forever?

Since the end of the last cold snap I had not seen her until a couple of days back when as I walked to her area two kingfishers came out of a nearby tree and perched for a second on the fence. I do hope it was her and as Kingfishers will start to form pairs in February with some luck I may see some courtship action soon

Since it's Wednesday...

Hope you have a great one!

Thanks Paul for his lovely texture.

Old Wood Door and Hasp must not be to important since there is no lock on this door, found in North Carolina.

Since we can't travel yet due to COVID, I put my retirement on hold and started working again, so I have less time than planned for photography. :-(

This female had a 2-3 weeks old chick on August 27th. Really strange...

Cette femelle avait un poussin de 2-3 semaines avec elle le 27 août dernier. Il me semble que c'est tard un peu pour avoir des petits...

Since we always buy a tree that we can plant after Christmas, it stays outside. This ornament hangs by my kitchen window.

Well been a week since my last post and working on some new hobbies so this isn’t my usual post. I have begun to treat myself with some preventative herbal medicine right now I am working on my immune defenses given its everything season out there. I spent many months reading and researching and have narrowed some things down that seemed to have some great abilities to fire up the immune system pre sickness and I think this one so far is a winner you can look up the ingredients and their benefits on your own if you are interested as I can only tell you what works for me.

1 part each dried Elderberry, Rose Hips, Echinacea Root, Astragalus, Ginger

I like mine herbs powdered so mix in a spice grinder for maximum extraction; otherwise 3-4 tsp in a 1l mason jar filled with boiling water, let steep 10 minutes drink then hot or cold and a spoonful of honey makes the medicine go down so does a slice or two lemon.

I took this on Oct 24th, 2021 with my D850 and Tamron 15-30 f2.8 G2 Lens at 30mm, 5s, f8 ISO 64 processed in LR, PS +Topaz ,and DXO

Since we first put up the Christmas Tree, this is the position that our cat has adopted, when she is not in a lap, of course. I don't know if she is guarding the tree or patiently awaiting Santa.

Since three years in the North American bird-watching.

I have been obsessed with the target birds.

Atlantic puffins and Tufted puffin there is a much difference.(A small number.)

Very excited go there,I have to drive and 196km for one way.

Although hard, but get everyone support. It was worth it.(come to my mind.)

Actually appears twice.

Just three minutes to capture the action, so you know, so limited.

Hey Dear all, if any found, please share.

The next target bird is the "King Eider". (Currently learned in Barrow of Alaska.)

Thanks to all bird-watching and willing to share the location of friends.

Such nicely..

Thanks to your sharing.

Virtually bring you happiness.

It always has been...ever since I was a little girl....something about autumn is comforting......it made me feel safe ......I would stay out as late as I could just to enjoy it, watching leaves fall, collecting as many as I could find that were different colors....placing the colorful leaves in puddles of rainwater to watch them float like little boats....enjoying the crisp fall air....wearing my favorite sweatshirts....visiting the apple orchard...the aromas coming from the kitchen from baking all things fall.. recently, someone for the first time in my life said, "Autumn is your season"..It wasn't prompted by any questions...it was merely a statement in the middle of another subject of conversation...thing is, it wasn't just merely anything....it was much more than that...

New from KraftWork the Taylor Outdoor Sectional Sofa Set. Adult and PG versions available.. I have to be honest..I was never a sectional sofa fan until I grabbed this. I love the wicker and fabric options and I also think it's clever that the pillows and blanket are separate from the sofa. That way you can put them where you see fit or not at all! They are also texture change! Out now at Uber. Pictured from the set:

Been a while since I posted one of these, just over a year in fact. I was a bit lazy last winter to go out borealis hunting but think that´ll change this winter, we´ll see. Taken up in Bláfjöll during a trip with my buddy Indriði.

Since we don't water our grass much in the summer patches of it goes dormant. Here's a stray blade, missed when my son mowed last, that went to flower. I spritzed it with water.

Since there is snow outside, bring spring indoors

Every year, since I was born, I spend some vacation days on my parents' farm...

As the years have passed by, I've seen this place go from glory to almost total abandoning... People age, the physical strength decreases and so the things start to fade as well... But to me this is one of the most precious places on Earth, so this year I've decided to share a bit of it with you my friends while I still can come back here... because no one knows what the future may bring... :-)

Schönen Sonntag!

Long since closed down corner shop. Net curtains, double doors, wall ties, awning frames, blown render and Victorian chimney pots, what's not to love about it ?

I have always thought of crucifixion and the Holy Trinity when passing by . .

forever, since we had 6 plants pulled out to make room for a wildflower garden!! I would never have done this, but for the past 4-5 years, I was lucky to get 3-4 flowers in total... I'd rather see happy butterflies and bees instead of round bushes that just stand there and don't attract any insects!!

HMM- since the wooden shoes didn't pass muster, i am going with this one for my back-up for my choice for today, 8/31, for the macro mondays' group pool for the theme of sound. this was designed (with the semicircular cutouts) to make a sound to let the owner of the tea kettle know when the water is heated to an optimum temperature. most of my pictures were in the homemade musical instruments category ~grin~

"macro mondays" sound possibility

Ever since the London Olympics I have been kind of fascinated by the speed and grace of fencing. I ran the idea by my friend Lupita Darkbyrd who found these CL Blue jumpsuits that reminded me enough of the uniform that I thought I would try to shoot something. No luck on the face masks or genuine looking sabers. I thought that the pic conveyed a little of the speed and action of the sport. Shot on a tilting light box. I used some of the fun action animations from Happy Dispatch.

The Italian Chapel

On the tiny windswept island of Lamb Holm in the Orkneys sits this lonely and exquisitely painted little sanctuary. It was lovingly built out of an old corrugated metal bunker with the materials available , by Italian prisoners of the second world war. There is a rather poignant picture of them hanging inside the entrance.

Since the last church service held in the church in Bodie was in the early 1930's, no doubt it has been a long time since this organ produced music. But dusty benches remain ready for an audience, just in case.

Happy Bench Monday!

Since we can never know enough of God, says Origen in Homily 17 on Numbers, those who follow divine wisdom are as those living in tents, `with which they always walk and always move on, and the farther they go, so much more does the road still to walk grow long and stretch out endlessly.... For it never happens that a mind, enkindled by the spark of knowledge, can come to quiet repose; it is always called to move on, from the good to the better and from the better to still higher things.'

-Gregory of Nyssa and the Grasp of Faith: Union, Knowledge, and Divine Presence by Martin Laird

Still older fossils document the genus since the Late Oligocene onwards. The genus seems to have originated in the Southern Hemisphere, in the general region of Australia. By the Pliocene, it was probably distributed worldwide:

Gallinula sp. (Early Pliocene of Hungary and Germany)

Gallinula kansarum (Late Pliocene of Kansas, USA)

Gallinula balcanica (Late Pliocene of Varshets, Bulgaria).

Gallinula gigantea (Early Pleistocene of Czech Republic and Israel)

The ancient "Gallinula" disneyi (Late Oligocene—Early Miocene of Riversleigh, Australia) has been separated as genus Australlus.

Even among non-Passeriformes, this genus has a long documented existence. Consequently, some unassigned fragmentary rail fossils might also be from moor- or native-hens. For example, specimen QM F30696, a left distal tibiotarsus piece from the Oligo-Miocene boundary at Riversleigh, is similar to but than and differs in details from "G." disneyi. It cannot be said if this bird—if a distinct species—was flightless. From size alone, it might have been an ancestor of G. mortierii (see also below).

In addition to paleosubspecies of Gallinula chloropus, the doubtfully distinct Late Pliocene to Pleistocene Gallinula mortierii reperta was described, referring to the population of the Tasmanian native-hen that once inhabited mainland Australia and became extinct at the end of the last ice age.[6] It may be that apart from climate change it was driven to extinction by the introduction of the dingo, which as opposed to the marsupial predators hunted during the day, but this would require a survival of mainland Gallinula mortierii to as late as about 1500 BC.

"G." disneyi was yet another flightless native-hen, indicative of that group's rather basal position among moorhens. Its time and place of occurrence suggest it as an ancestor of G. mortierii (reperta), from which it differed mostly in its much smaller size. However, some limb bone proportions are also strikingly different, and in any case such a scenario would require a flightless bird to change but little during some 20 million years in an environment rich in predators. As the fossils of G. disneyi as well as the rich recent and subfossil material of G. mortierii shows no evidence of such a change at all, "G." disneyi more probably represents a case of parallel evolution at an earlier date, as signified by its placement in Australlus.
