Since I live here in my tiny village, my dog-walks are longer and further.

This is not too far from my little prairiehouse. About a half an hour walk.

During that time I walk to the rising sun.. it's always an amazing view!

I love this water.

When I lived in town I went sometimes with my bicycle to this spot.

And now this is 'in' my village!

So funny

A month since my laat visit Vermont Railway has been continuing to use ancient Green Mountain Railroad Alco RS1 405 in daily freight service on the Bellows Falls switcher assignment (train DASW). For decades this unit has almost exclusively been used only for service on the VRS' passenger seasonal excursion trains and perhaps would see use on revenue freights once or twice a year at most. What is even more special is that this unit is very much on home rails having been built for the Rutland in November 1951. So that means she is approaching her 71st birthday in a few months and has never left the Green Mountain state!

So any time she's used for revenue service is special, and I'm hard pressed to think of anywhere else in the country an RS1 is used to haul freight anymore. For these reasons, I figured I should make the nearly 3 hr trip north to see her again!

One pleasant surprise since my last trip up exactly a month ago was to find that VRS had completely cut ALL the brush from the diamond up to Riverside. Where before the trucks would have been obscured now the railhead was visible from virtually everywhere! Given this nice change I decided a morning view from across the Connecticut River from the park at the end of Pine Street in Walpole would be in order. Here is the switch crew making some moves near MP B1 on the Falls Running Track at the east end of the Bellows Falls Subdivision, the former Green Mountain Railroad, nee Rutland, mainline.

Since deadpan raised some interest, I decided to post another deadpan portrait, not a self-portrait this time, mostly to document the approach and style.

Since the foliage is a silhouette, I thought this would still work for a one color photo. Getting some nice sunsets lately!!

The epic movie 'Gone With The Wind' was released on December 13, 1939, in Atlanta, Georgia. Now, 77 years later, it still plays annually at the famous Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia.

Since I thought about the title for this pic I can't stop listening to Ella Fitzgerald's "Misty" in my mind...

What a great song, even though there is nothing to do with these image. hahaha =D

Since last summer the two APS E483s have been rented to Trenitalia Cargo, now Mercitalia.

It was a long time since i made my last attempt but it feels good to get back into it. I took several long exposure shots on a tripod yesterday evening. No editing or post processing. This one was a 1 minute and 40 seconds long exposure shot standing in the cold at Emmerich, Germany which is near the border of the Netherlands.

The beautiful city of Bruges/Belgium. Loads of nice and old architecture. This building was built in 1614.

Since living in Las Vegas over the last 15 years, I’ve crossed paths with many of the classic entertainers 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s that call Las Vegas home. I remember watching Mr. Barbutti on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson several times. Always great to see him! He’s still a funny and very approachable person.

Since when did Flickr become a place where people post screenshots of personal conversations and Facebook comments? Lame! How unglamorous! Anyways here’s POPPY!!

Since there wasn't anything of interest going on in the Fernhill wetlands, we went down the highway to the the Buffalo Farm... One of these days they are going to be on my side of the pasture... LOL!!!

SPNC Year 3 #9

This morning we decided to through out the sofa, and burn it. We have been sleeping there since we moved in, but we are sure that something else also live in it. We hear how it prazzles, and something runs around in it..... not to mention all the residents we can´t see.......

We also cleaned up the mess, and the house feels a lot nicer to spend time in. We scrubbed the floors and walls, and cleaned all the windows. It was a hard job (it was really dirty), and we sat on the porch quite a while afterwards....... exhausted but happy. Stella started to talk about a bathroom....... well, I wish we had one. Probably that has to be priority one from now, but I need to find that leak first.

Another thing we discussed, was the hidden key we found hanging in the fireplace. Why was it hidden...... and why in the fireplace ? What was it for a key...... and where is the right lock for it ? Lots of questions, but no answers.

Tomorrow my brother come for a quick visit. Wonder what he thinks of this place......... this place which are going to be the crown of Stella´s and mine love story.

As we said : - " Don´t give it up. Let´s fight for hope and glory ! "

Good night...... sleep tight !

Since my Perseids 2025 session was a total failure, I attach an image from the Perseids 2023 session (the most successful for me). This is a single frame from a series of 100 that I took on the "peak" night of the Perseids 2023, a frame that I find interesting because of the 2 satellites intersected by a meteor near Andromeda galaxy.

Equipment used: Skywatcher Star Adventure GTI, Nikon D610 (astro-modified) and Rokinon 135mm.

Settings: F2.8, ISO 1000, 45 sec.

I still have the raw file :)

Since I consider myself somewhat of an expert on Snowy Egrets and Utqiaġvik is known for its population of Snowy Owls, I felt quite confident there would be opportunity during my recent visit to the Arctic to profit from such synergy. But apparently Snowy Egrets and Snowy Owls don't share as much in common as I had anticipated. Of the two birds I spotted, the closest I got was this heavily cropped, distant view while kneeling under a low-hung pipeline.

Since the weather was so nice today, I decided to take a walk to the back of the tree nursery I currently live on. I was half way to the back and got a low battery warning on my camera! The warm weather made me a little lazy so I took my small camera. On the way back to my house I got off a couple of more shots and this is one of them. I was amazed at the quality for such a small camera - especially at noon with bright sunlight - which I usually never take photos at this time of day.

There are at least 5 or more different types of trees in this photo - the very large Walnut tree on the right is just starting to get leaves. L A R G E

Since I can't go to the beach right now, I thought I'd share some of my photo art. This one was taken back in May. of 2016. I re-edited the shot this morning using Silver Efex Pro 2 and Lightroom.

Frigorífico Anglo del Uruguay

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Frigorífico Anglo del Uruguay was a meatpacking plant located at Fray Bentos, Uruguay, on the Uruguay River bank.

In 1924, the Vestey group purchases the old installations of Liebig Extract of Meat Company and the production goes on under a new name.

During its peak period, El Anglo had 5,000 workers whose ranks included English, Belgians, Russians, Spanish and Italians. It finally closed in 1979 after Europe and the United States had cut back their purchases from Latin America. Small brick houses with thick walls running along the river's edge in Fray Bentos form the "Barrio Anglo," a city-within-a-city where meatpacking workers lived that featured a hospital, a school, a social club and a football squad.[1]
