This shot is part of an engagement session I shot with Gwyneth Colleen Photography at South Station in Boston, MA. Gwyn was directing the couple and I was walking around trying to find interesting angles. There was a leak in the awning with water just gushing out. I was able to focus on the water and catch it in mid air. I give this one the "shot of the day" award.

Simple green drop that I found strangely compelling. Description of setup can be found in "Blue Tranquility". In this setup though, I used an actual green posterboard instead of using gels.
Graffiti Soul is the fifteenth studio album by Scottish rock band Simple Minds, released on 25 May 2009... and the wheelie bin owner wants to tell everyone about it.

This is a photograph from the finish of the annual Kilbeggan, St. Stephen's Day 6km Road Race, Fun Run and Walk around Kilbeggan town, Co. Westmeath Ireland. The race was held at 12:00 on St. Stephen's Day Saturday 26th December 2015. The race was provided with sponsorship from KN Network Services and all proceeds from the race were in aid of the Crumlin Children's Hospital. The race started and finished in the Square in the center of the town. The route took a clockwise route around the town crossing the River Brosna twice and making way to the local walking route alongside the M6 Motorway before returning with 1KM to go along the Tullamore road into the town.
The race was chip timed by MyRunResults.com and the Results are available at their website [www.myrunresults.com/results.html?v=%2Fen%2Frace%2Fshow%2...].
There was 283 finishers which included runners, joggers and walkers. This was a fantastic turn out despite the rather miserable weather with the participants experiencing heavy rain for the duration of the race and encountering large puddles of water on the roads. Refreshments of tea, coffee, soup and sandwiches were served in the pub beside the finish.

Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets
Is simpler better? Sometimes, yes. What can be more indulgent than plain, simple cheesecake. Plain and simple, but also rich and delicious.
Of course, there are lots of cheesecake recipes in many flavors and variations on TexasCooking.com. Get out the water bath.

everything is always so complex. I like it when some things are simple, like the joy of a summer day, or the smell of flowers that make a smile come so easily.

April 2007
I recently wanted to experiment with wooden hinges for an unusual box I was making.
After reading Roger Gifkins excellent article (available for free download from www.gifkins.com.au/SingleActionWoodenHinge.pdf), I decided that I really did not want to work to the precision required for Roger’s method.
The method detailed below demonstrates how easy it is to make wooden hinges without a great deal of precision. The technique involves making a set of individual hinge fingers and then assembling them to make the completed hinge. An added bonus is that two or more contrasting timbers can be used to give a unique feel to the hinges (as in the photo of the completed box).
I make no claim to originality. These hinges are so simple to make that there must be others who have or are using this technique.

Cornus kousa (Kouse Dogwood) 2020 photo - Chinese Dogwood, KORE-nus KOO-suh, Mature size: 15x15’, white, USDA Hardiness Zone 5, Michigan Bloom Month 6b, In Garden Bed D0 a75 for 20.2 YEARS (Melli). Planted in 2000.
Missouri Botanical Garden: Cornus kousa, commonly called Kousa dogwood, is a small, deciduous flowering tree or multi-stemmed shrub that typically grows 15-30’ tall, with a vase-shaped habit in the early years but eventually maturing to a more rounded form. Bloom occurs in late spring. The showy parts of the Kousa dogwood “flower” (3-5” across) are the four narrowly pointed petal-like white bracts which surround the center cluster of insignificant, yellowish-green, true flowers. Flowers are followed by berry-like fruits (to 1” diameter) which mature to a pinkish red in summer and persist into fall. Fruits are technically edible, but are usually left for the birds. Oval, pointed leaves (to 4” long) are dark green, but usually turns attractive shades of reddish-purple to scarlet in autumn. Mottled, exfoliating, tan and gray bark on mature trees is attractive in winter.
Red edible fruit resemples a strawberry. The Kousa dogwood is a small deciduous tree 8–12 m tall, native to eastern Asia. Like most dogwoods, it has opposite, simple leaves, 4–10 cm long. Dieback 2015. Now shrub like rather than tree like.
