"It is almost Fall season and the days are getting shorter. Dusk actually occurs in the horizon after sunset when the sun is no longer visible and after twilight, it is in essence the beginning of the night's darkness." ~Tomitheos

this beautiful scenery was in port de pollença in winter 2023. how amazing are those shadows and strong lights, wenn the air is so clear and the sun still so intense!
The River Yeo runs through the fields of red sandy soil to the south of the Crediton valley and meets the Creedy which in turn feeds the river Exe. Today's snow, came down fiercely. As my grandfather would say 'tis coming in' The snowfall gave some workers a day off of work and thrilled many Devon schoolchildren.
After a sunny cold January day, this evening's sunset was a blaze of colour,a perfect backdrop for the old oak tree.
Took this photo tonight and did a bit of manipulation by using my mauve tinted sunglasses as a bit of extra colour filter.
What a strange place to see a "No Parking" sign. High up on a lamppost and among the tops of boat masts. Background is of the higher elevation mountains in Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver, BC. The scene is at the Marina area.
This was taken in my backyard on the evening of November 26. The image below it in the first comment box was the same evening, but a few minutes previously while there was more colour in the sky.
Downtown Vancouver allowed some good shots the other day and I liked the way these tree silhouettes were reflected in this high rise building window. The sky was somewhat cloudy, the colour is from the window's tinting.
Secondhand light here....looking down on trees at the edge of the lake.

An image of mine of a colorful peacock tail feather which I digitally transformed into a 'field of feathers' and added one of my sunset skies and then some painted trees silhouetted in the background. As a final touch, I added an orb or sphere to represent the moon made digitally also from the original peacock feather photograph. It was a bit of fun.
An increasingling darkening of these clouds created a lovely sunset over the landscape of trees; caught this shot from my balcony.
This was the shot I took of the sun in our hazy and smoky sky just before it started to set behind the mountains.
No editing on this photo, uploaded as is from my camera.
During the fall season I saw some great sunsets when the weather had not yet turned to cold with rain and snow. Took this on a late day walk along the seashore. in West Vancouver, BC.
No editing on this shot
Took the kids to the park before tea tonight, and grabbed this sunset - didn't have my tripod but rested on some play equipment.
Wasn't happy with the comp so added in the reflection, yep, know I've done that before :-)
Here in BC they are always building, everywhere. I shot this unusual sunset of the top of the mountain where you can also see a cell phone tower. Taken from my balcony and post editing done only to define the clouds; they were this strange colour.
...the sky was exactly this colour! It was a beautiful cold, crisp afternoon and the sky was absolutely gorgeous...it was so red. I'm sure the shepherds would have been delighted!
It was barely dusk and the blue hour time when the full moon became visible over the silhouettes of the dark outlines of trees.
A little frustrated whilst driving home tonight where I could see the sun doing amazing things through the clouds. At one point it was diffused perfectly, and left only a beautiful silver lining.. However, could I find anywhere to safely stop? Erm, no...
I settled for this shot in the end, where the sun had broke through a lot more, and couldn't find any really good foreground to shoot against either..
Had to crop (railway power line stuff out) this and the single -2EV RAW file worked out far better than any HDR concoctions on this one :-)
Sunset evenings are becoming more and more visible now and many people are out walking along the shoreline. This playground for kids is in the John Lawson Park which borders right onto the beach areas. Kids are staying out later playing here now also. The photo was taken on St. Patrick's Day, lucky 17!
Hello my friends!
This was taken on a very cold morning only a few weeks ago during a beautiful early sunrise : )
My intention was to walk beyond this tower to some nearby water and capture the sunrise there... but when I arrived in this area, the sun had started to color the sky so wonderfully and this tower was silhouetted so nicely in front of it all!
I knew that I had to stay here for a while and capture some photos to share with you guys : )
Still shooting with the compact Sony cam but really beginning to enjoy this little camera and its ability!
Thank you for sharing a moment of your time with me and having a look at my newest upload : )
I appreciate your support so much my friends!

Beauty comes in simple forms, like a smile, a glance of the eye or silhouetted shapes...
Thank goodness for the simple things of our world...
A view of the city lights at dusk and just before the storm clouds rolled in. These buildings are in Metrotown in Burnaby, BC.
I liked the reflections of trees and sky in this front window, also superimposed on the window blinds.
Caught in the morning light, as another day was about to begin. The best time of the day (well for me, definitely, as it's the most time I get to spend taking photos)..
The crows were flying into another area of Burnaby, BC in the early morning Blue hour. They repeat this every day, then fly back home to roost in another area. I had a hard time to get any really clear shots as they fly over our building so fast and this was taken through a dirty window that does not open. Their flight patterns often change direction to further over the mountains. They come in hundreds and hundred of birds, probably in the thousands, to go to dumpsite or other feeding areas.

I took this moody photo from the window of an Amtrak train traveling through eastern New York. The dark, billowing clouds and silhouetted trees create a dramatic, almost ominous atmosphere. This image perfectly captures the feeling of a journey through the scenic and sometimes brooding landscapes of upstate New York, where nature often appears untamed and mysterious.

Explore September 2, 2008 .... thanks to my friends! xxoo
I went for a drive with my camera last evening, and didn't find anything interesting to photograph, until I was about one block from home, and saw the beautiful sunset silhouetting this tree.
Have a wonderful week ..... ;)

I... Who all the winter through... Cherished other loves than you...
And kept hands with hoary policy in marriage-bed and pew...
Now I know the false and true...
For the earnest sun looks through...
And my old love comes to meet me in the dawning and the dew...
Now the hedged meads renew...
Rustic odour, smiling hue...
And the clean air shines and tinkles...
As the world goes wheeling through...
And my heart springs up anew...
Bright and confident and true...
And my old love comes to meet me...
In the dawning and the dew....

Night draws in near the village of Sheepstor on Dartmoor. A lone sheep and bare trees made nice silhouettes against the darkening sky. And I do love naked trees.
I wasn't sure if this image was worth uploading but finally decided that I do quite like it.
I like this more as I look at it again but it didn't qualify as Bev's perfect tree shot! The light was fading fast and I trudged through knee deep snow to grab these few shots!
Another Sunrise capture from the Himalayan trip.
Catch the amazing feeling of standing and watching this morning grow.
